I got a toshiba dvd player for 70 dollars, after my playstation 2 decided to stop playing movies, it made me so mad. This toshiba player is excellent and it plays all my movies and has zoom and picture enhancement. So have I made a good decision?

Probably. What model of Toshiba did you get? Aside having region free capabilities, the 3900 and 4900 have been rated extremely high in HT mag reviews. Sometimes having their picture quality compared to $700 players.

Toshiba DVD players are good! I'm extremely pleased with my SD-3900. I, too, used to use my PS/2 for DVDs, but since switching to the Toshiba the PQ and options are far superior.

My toshiba 3950 has difficulty playing dvd-r at times. Though my sony has never had a problem. Something to consider.

Decent little players. The deinterlacer is however not very good at all. It'll comb on badly flagged material and doesn't handle video based stuff well either. Video output otherwise is good and if you watch mainly R1 hollywood titles from the major studios you'll be fine as their material is typically film sourced and flagged well enough. They lack a bit in features as they are all virtually OEM'd from other makes of players. They are comparable to LG and JVC units in their heritage.

playing regular dvd movies, not dvd-r. I like the picture quality on it and it has picture enhancement and sound enhancement, zoom and A-B, which is more than enough for me.

I have the 3901 and have never had any problems over the years. I haven't tried any DVD-R's though.

I started in 98 with a 3008. Upgraded to a 2109 for DTS then to the 5109 for component video. Happy with all 3. Had a few audio issues with the 3008 but they were quickly rectified.

I've owned a couple Toshiba players and they've both been great players. My current model is the SD-4800 and it plays everything I throw at it... with the exception of the defective Opera disc that Anchor Bay quickly replaced.

I had a Toshiba SD-2109 DVD Player for several years. It played almost every single one of my discs without any problem. The only glitch with the player is that it would sometimes pixelate and/or freeze when you try to navigate through the extras on the disc... like the actor bio. Very annoying.

I recently got the 4900, mostly because I could change it too all region. However, there is one missing feature on this player that drives me nuts. If you turn it off in the middle of a movie and turn it back on when you return, it will not remember where you left off and start playing from there again. It will start from the beginning. I like watching a lot of DVD collections of TV shows, so I often turn them off when it gets late or when something comes up. All my old players would remember where I left it and start playing from that scene when I turn it back on. The Toshiba (in reality, it's a rebadged LG) does not.
