What are your favorites? What am I missing? SNES
As I get more bored with the focus on flashy graphics, interactive backgrounds, and cut scenes ad nauseum, I've rediscovered the SNES. What a great system!
Anyway, since I've just started collecting again, I'm wondering what hidden gems I might be missing out on. How about a list of your favorite SNES titles along with a few lesser known recommendations for me?
Here's my current collection:
Super Metroid
Super Mario World
Super Mario All-Stars
Dr. Mario/Tetris
Super Star Wars
Super Empire Strikes Back
Super Return of the Jedi
Mega Man X
Street Fighter 2
Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past
Cybernator
and my shooter collection!!!
Space Megaforce (cult classic if there ever were one)
Axelay
Darius Twin
Gradius III
Raiden Trad
Phalanx
Super R-Type
Super Nova
Earth Defense Force
Thanks in advance fellas!

Checking these out on Gamefaqs...
So far, TMNT looks pretty interesting. Is it the same one that just came out for the GBA?
Kirby Super Star looks like a winner.
I think I remember Zombies ate my Neighbors, and I think I recall liking it.
I'll look into getting each of them.

chess, no the TMNT for GBA is a new game, the orginals for NES were the best I have all 4 , but Tournament fighters for SNES is a great TMNT turtle game, I would recommend that

I think the TMNT game you want is Turtles In Time. It had gameplay like the first TMNT arcade (like Final Fight, et al). Tournament Fighters was a one-on-one fighting game. The GBA game was side-scrolling.
U.N. Squadron was a good shooter from Capcom.
I don't see Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island mentioned anywhere. Do you have that one?

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island almost looks like a PSX game. I just found a copy for myself. it's Excellent!
I also enjoy starfox, but it looks pretty dated by today.
There was a Batman game (Batman Returns I think) put out by Konami that was a good Final Fight clone.
Mario Kart for the SNES is better IMO than the N64 version.
Does anybody else here think that the MODE 7 scaling looks better than the 3D on the N64? Mode 7 isn't true 3D, but at least it looks crisp as apposed to the vaseline covered N64 games
Personally, I buy most of my games at pawn shops and flea markets. I've scored Kart and Yoshi's island for $9 total this weekend. If your patient you can find most of the better mainstream titles that way. I still haven't found a Super Metroid or any of the Squaresoft RPGs this way, so those might only be found the expensive way.

I have Yoshi's Island for GBA, but will pick it up if I see it cheap. Ditto for Mario Kart.
Mario RPG...owned it, and I don't really do RPGs more than once unless they are strategy based.
TMNT don't really have any nostalgia value for me as I was a teen at the time, but I sort of recall a good platform/beat em up based on them. I think it might have been on the NES though.
U.N. Squadron...noted.
I remember aladdin on the Genesis. Isn't it a different game from the SNES one...and better?
What about Toy Story?
Were the "Strike" helecopter games good?
For what it's worth, I like 2D platform games and 2D shooters (obviously).
Thanks for all the input!

Every Kirby game on SNES is a winner.
Kirby Dream Land 3 is platform greatness. Plus, there are Metroid in one level!!
Kirby Super Star is just plain fun, and great multi-player.
Kirby's Avalance is a version of Puyo Puyo, the best puzzle game ever.
Kirby's Dream Course is an interesting spin on golf.
Looks like you got shooters covered!
There's plenty of good beat em ups too. Final Fight series, King of Dragons, Knights of the Round, Magic Sword, etc.
Would you be interested in some good Japanese games too? There's plenty that don't require knowing the language to enjoy.

I didn't see this mentioned, but I would give Pac-Man 2 a try. It is one of the most unique games created for the SNES. Plus, it has Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man on it.

Just spent about 4 hours playing Dr. Mario with my girlfriend.
Plan to hit a few pawn shops tomorrow. So far, half.com has been the best place to get SNES games, but maybe I'll get lucky.

Actraiser = Yuzo Koshiro goodness!!
Super Ghouls & Ghosts = ARGH!!
Earthbound is the most innovative RPG ever.. and it rocks.
Though, Super Bomberman 2 was much better than the original.
