I need a 27" tv for my room and don't really need HDTV. My Xbox will be the primary DVD player and be connected through the Microsoft High Def kit.

I have this tv in mind and I think its a steal at about $325.

Microsoft High Def kit.

Am I making a good choice?

You really can't link to BB when you are logged in. Which brand / model # is it?

A quick glance on the best buy site doesn't list any HDTV's for $325, I can only guess you're talking about one of the standard Toshiba 27" flat screen sets, which are the only sets I see in that price range. If so, I have to ask why you would use the XBox HD kit, as you're not getting an HDTV.

The HDTV pack in the Xbox allows to use the component inputs in the TV.

That makes sense. I didn't realize you couldn't by a component cable for the X Box.

You can in two ways - the Monster connect and the XBOX high-def kit. The only way to use the progressive scan capabilities of the XBOX.

Yeah, but if you're using Progressive Scan, then you've got an HDTV ready TV, not a standard TV.

I never said anything about the TV itself. I said you can't use the capability any other way.

I have a 27" Panny and I think it's great. However, for another $100, you could get a 27" Flat Screen Wega, and I think for the minor price difference, you'd be happier in the long run.

I know you didn't. The original poster is buying it and a non PS capable TV. I suppose I'm still questioning why he's getting the HD kit and not the regular component cables. Not asking you to explain his buying decision.

I see. However, the TV he is getting does have component inputs and you couldn't utilize them with the XBOX without the hi-def kit. That may be his thinking, but we don't know.

I was told you need the high def kit for the xbox to utilize component inputs on the tv.

BestBuy has the TV for $350 and you get a $25 gift card in the mail, bringing the total to $325.

CircuitCity has it for $400 and you get a $25 gift card.

What would the final price be if I did a price match plus at circuit city? How does this work?

Thanks. Please reply quick as this deal lasts till saturday only.

As I said before, you need the hi def kit to use the component inputs.

As for PM, CC will take off 10% of the difference, so you'll get it for $345. For $5, it's probably a matter of which store you prefer.

I guess I will go with circuit city since they are closer. $345-$25 comes to $320 which is a great price.

Circuit City had an HD signal going into the tv which looked alot better than standard tv. Anyone of you do this on tvs where you have component inputs?
