I found this in a classified ad, should I investigate further?

It sounds too good to be true. Its for a Hitachi 60SDX88BA. Guy got it for, like, $3,000...needs to move? Sounds fishy, oh and it's only got 1 Component hook-up. Do I need more?

Im new to the whole home theatre thing and plan on getting a Yamaha RXV-740 and Infinity TSS-750 surrounds. $600!! Should I jump on this if it seems ok and I can view it first??

I have a progressive scan Malata 558 DVD player also...

Thanks, I need to jump fast...

Could be a good deal. Could also be that he has had a ton of trouble with it.

Was talking to a guy who was telling me that it is getting harder and harder to sell the CRT's. The guys want as big as possible, and the women don't want it taking up half the living room. So the LCD and DLP RP's are what is really driving the market right now.

Could be this guy is moving and his wife wants something physically small

What is it with guys and big screens and women who want small TVs that can be hidden away? My girlfriend was the same way until we got the big CRT and she liked it and thought it actually looked better in the living room than the small 27" TV we replaced.

Do you really need something that big? And it's not widescreen, so it's gonna be a big huge square that you'll have to sit far, far back from. If you plan on watching a lot of DVDs or HD, know that the black bars on the top and bottom will eventually get burned into the screen if you're not careful.

No. Buy a new unit, get a warranty, done. Replacement parts and out of warranty service costs can be prohibitive. A display is one thing I won't buy used...
