According to a hometheaterforum chat from last year, Dial M for Murder will be released this year. Warner Bros. also said they were planning a big Hitchcock collection for this year.

Do you think WB will include The Wrong Man?

I hope they include both the 3D and the regular versions of "Dial M for Murder."

That's a good question. Which others under the Warner domain haven't been released yet that might be included is such a potential set? "Dial M for Murder" and "The Wrong Man" are good choices, and "Strangers on a Train" and "North by Northwest" have already been released.

I'd like to see "Foreign Correspondent" come to DVD sometime soon, which was produced by a company I'm not familiar with, Walter Wanger Productions, Inc., which apparently also produced "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (1956) and "Stagecoach." "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" came out under a Republic Pictures DVD label.

It sounds like The Wrong Man would be included in the collection. Here are the quotes from the HTF chat:

(Patrick_F) Thanks for coming! I have a question about some of your classic films - any plans for EAST OF EDEN, DIAL M FOR MURDER, and MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS? And if we ask nicely - how about the rest of those "classic" POLICE ACADEMY films? Keep up the great work and thanks.

(Warner) All those "classic" POLICE ACADEMY films are...on their way. EAST OF EDEN is tied up in legal limbo although we are trying to untie it. DIAL M and MEET ME are coming next year!

(kevin_lodge) Hello -- any plans for other Hitchcock films such as Suspicion, Wrong Man, Stage Fright and Foreign Correspondant

(Warner) Yes, we plan a BIG Hitchcock collection for '04.

There's another chat with WB set up for next week. Hopefully we'll get some more news on these titles.

Dial M For Murder, The Wrong Man, I Confess - that would be a nice little box set.

Of those 3 I'd buy "Dial M For Murder" first before the other two.

I could easily seem them double-dipping with North by Northwest or Strangers on a Train. If they are doing a boxset, and 2-disc NxNW included would greatly increase sales.

re: Lifeboat

I thought LIFEBOAT was already released to DVD. I could swear that it was part of one of the Hitchcock boxsets released three or four years ago. There were two volumes as I recall, and I'm pretty sure LIFEBOAT is included in one of them. Can anyone verify this?

"Lifeboat" is a 20th Century Fox Release. Hopefully they will include this as part of their FOX STUDIO CLASSICS line.

This sounds promising.
I hope an official announcement with specs comes soon.
I think WB did a good job with their North by Northwest release.

Hey, what Hitchcock movies are owned by Warner Bros.?

I got about 18 Hitchcock films on DVD, I really hope most of them are not in the set you know?

Most of those are probably owned by Universal. I believe the only WB Hitchcocks on DVD are North by Northwest and Strangers on a Train. I wouldn't worry too much about double dipping. Maybe on a title or two.

In January, Warner Holland gave out a list of to be expected releases for 2004. On the list for November 2004 were the following Hitchcock titles:

The Wrong Man
Stage Fright
Dial M For Murder
I Confess
and a 2-disc SE of Strangers On A Train

I guess R1 will at least get these titles as well.

Sweet. I've been reading Truffaut's Hitchcock book and made a note recently of all of the Hitchcock titles still MIA on DVD.
