Just got a Replay TV! Woohoo!
Alright, after living in the stone age for so long, I finally decided to spring some cash and get a Replay TV (40 hour, was going to get the 80 but I'll be deleting most stuff after I'm done watching so decided to save $).
So does anyone have any tips/tricks that I should know about when using this badboy?
I love this thing already and I haven't even used any of the cool features yet

But you'd be happy with whatever you chose. They both have their ups and downs so you just have to draw the line somewhere. Congrats on the purchase.

I really hate my replaytv. Every month I get the "cant verify payment" error and every week I get the "cant update" error, so I have to go through and make the dumb thing update the guide and call in and get it to verify. Now its not recording OTH on tuesday's even though there are two red dots telling it to record, but it records it on saturday. Im glad I havent paid the lifetime fee for this thing.

The next few months will be a great time to be a ReplayTV owner. There is a lot of 3rd-party development/hacking going on right now. Some cool new stuff has come out recently, with more on the way.

Honestly, if I had DirecTV, there wouldn't be any hesitation.

Thanks, I'll try that. I was emailing those fools at Sonic Blue to try to get help. After the third email, I hit send and it bounced back. *shrug* I accidently gave them my nickname instead of what I signed up under so thats what the last email was about. I'll read that thread and see if I can get help.

Yes and yes! The best part about it is that the DirectTV Tivo is dual-tuner, which means you can record two programs at the same time (while watching a third recorded program if necessary). So you're basically getting two DVR's for the price of one.

Do you need anything special (besides the recorder) to go with the Tivo service? I think I am going to go with the deal, I just need some pointers from you experts

No, you don't need anything special, Nickdawgy. Remember, you have to pay $5/month for the Tivo service. It's worth it, though. The season pass feature is worth that alone.

I have 3 DirecTivos now.
I loved the main one in my living room so much, I added one upstairs in the bedroom. (Which came in handy for the rare instances when you have 3-way conflicts.)
Then they had a special deal and I added a third in my basement workout room. It is quite a motivating factor to workout, since I always have shows down there to watch. I can work out for 45 minutes and get an hour show in without commercials. I find I am working out a lot more regularly now and saving myself from spending too much time at night watching TV since I am knocking out my shows that way.
