Ota - Hdtv?

I have a question about over the air - HDTV.
I know that with a pretty cheep antenna you can get local channels in HDTV over the air.
But how is the picture quality?
If the picture is fuzzy not very good on your analog tv with and antenna will the HDTV look just as bad? or since the waves in the air are digital (?) the picture will come in clear?
thanks

The above mentioned is a good resource.
A quick answer to your question is that all digital, including HD, is either a perfect picture, or no picture. There is no such thing as fuzzy digital picture.
Most digital channels are on the UHF spectrum. If you are currently only getting fuzzy UHF channels, then that is a good indicator that you won't be able to receive an acceptable digital signal.

Actually, there's one other possible outcome with HD (besides perfect picture and no picture). That's a pixelated, blotchy picture that comes in and out.

yep, even at best buy, i've seen some heavy artifacting and the signal coming in and out.

especially if the source is a satellite dish, and you experience interference like snow or rain, your picture will suffer.

Over the air HDTV is an all or nothing signal.

In order to get this signal you need an HDTV, HDTV receiver and an antenna. If you can get the signal it will look good.

I have read that OTA HDTV signal is generally better than cable's or sattlelite's since there is less compression in OTA. That is, of course, if the signal is strong.
