Is this DVD worth getting? I already love the movie, that's not in debate, but is the quality any good? I heard the DD 5.1 is pretty awesome, but the transfer is non-anamorphic WS and has lots of flaws. On top of that no extras, but I'd be willing to get the movie for a good audio/visual experience.

Paramount will revisit this one eventually. I'd hold out unless you're a die-hard Top Gun fan and need a fix.

Aparently there's suppose to be a re-release this year with extra's and stuff. I'd try and hold out for that one.
I've got the current version and its not too bad, its dropped in price as well.

Hmmm, I guess I'll keep my eyes and ears open about this upcoming re-release. As much as I love the movie, I would definately wait a little while longer for a new release. I hope it comes with DTS and anamorphic WS! Thanks for the info guys.

Paramount isn't big on DTS. Only a small handful of their titles have DTS.
