MI-5 \ Spooks DVD differences???

Hi Folks!

I just got an email from A&E informing me that the season 1 box set of "MI-5" is now available... which I believe is old news.

Anyway, I already own the R2 "Spooks" season 1 set and was
curious as to whether the MI-5 DVD episodes were "cut" like the TV episodes, as "Spooks" is on the BBC in the UK and therefore doesn't have commercials.

For some reason I'm really paranoid about my region-free player - and thus my R2 stuff - and so like to "swap out" titles to R1 when they become available... IF they're not cut.

Anyone know? Thanks!

Rex

PS - I did a forum search before this but didn't come up with anything.

R1 is not supposed to be cut, but I'm not sure how the extras stack up. I've been trying to find out the answer to that.

Well, I certainly think so. If you like 24 you'll probably like MI-5. MI-5 uses a lot of the style of 24, but is more "character-based" I think. The show is NOT done in "real time" like 24, but that allows for more character development. The cast seems more "human" to me than the comic-book characters in 24. It also has it's action\graphic moments - an MI-5 agent is killed when her head is (graphically) shoved into a deep-fryer. Plus, since the show's on the BBC they're looser with the language. Not that swearing's "cool", but hearing agents get potty mouths when things go bad seems more authentic. Check it out - it comes on A&E all the time!

From what I've heard, only the opening credits are different.

Could be... I thought it was more of an attempt to explain what the series was about/generate interest. I mean if you see "spooks" listed in the TV guide your first thought would probably be ghosts not spies.

True. Anyway you look at it, Spooks doesn't translate well as an American title.
