Even though I just finished watching the fantastic Bridge On The River Kwai, I voted for Lawrence of Arabia. Something tells me that film will dominate the poll.

Wow. Didn't know Lean was responsible for "The Greatest Story Ever Told." Anyways, I voted for "Lawrence." Although "Bridge" is a very close second.

Is there really any competition here?

Lawrence is heads above these other films.

Gotta go with Lawrence of Arabia, though The Bridge on the River Kwai is a close second.

yeah, i didn't know that either... what a surprise. i thought the movie was wonderful looking epic, but it was waaayyyy too long.. & the pacing was not very good (= boring)

i voted lawrence.... just finished watching the LE disc (movie = extras) & Superbit disc back to back the other night... boy, what an adventure

Bridge on the River Kwai comes second, followed closely with Doc. Zhivago

Nonsense... Personally, I think it's a better film than Kwai... I'd also wager that Zhivago has not been seen as often as Kwai... Name recogniton often translates as "better".

However, LOA will dominate this poll... And rightfully so.

I looked it up on IMDB. Lean co-directed the film with George Stevens. I had no idea. Wow, two great directors on the same film. I've never seen it. I'll have to rent it, especially in lieu of "Passion of the Christ"; perhaps wanting to do a comparison or such.

I enjoyed "Brief Encounter" the most, though it might be considered one of his simplest films.

I really liked "Great Expectations", but I think his most epic and masterful work is "Lawrence."

Lawrence of Arabia. I'd consider Doctor Zhivago after, then The Bridge on the River Kwai.

Lawrence of Arabia. There's NOTHING like it. The cinematography alone should elevate this film to god knows where. And the score is a classic, too.

Actully, I was talking with a fellow film student who finally saw this film. Can you imagine? The first instant you want to be a filmmaker, you should hear of this film in a week or so, imo.

I can't wait for it to hit theaters once again. I missed seeing it at the Zigfield in NYC two years ago. For that, I'm a moron.
