"The Surrogate"
Damn, another winning episode.
There were so many little bits that paid off:
Larry's heart rate going nuts when the nurse comes into the room. Larry then has to wear a heart rate monitor, and Larry uses it to get out of 2 unwieldy situations.
Larry selecting the biracial doll as a gift for couple using a surrograte.
Larry almost convincing the surrogate to not give up the baby.
David Schwimmer gives Larry his dad's number so Larry can apologize for his appraisal of the lack of cashews in the raisin/nut packs. The dad calls Larry and rips Larry a new one.
Larry assuming Wanda slept around with a lot of white and black men and wanted to know if there were any differences between either of them.
Wanda giving Larry hell for assuming the worst of black people, and then having him play the black card when she needs him to get her script pushed through.
Larry and Richard checking out Mugsy Bogues in the men's room in order to compare the differences in white man/black man genitalia.

Yeah - most definitely a riff off the Conan interview
Maybe I'm wrong, but it looked like Gonorrhea pulled out a Crowbar to me, not a tire iron.

this episode was pure season 2 big time funny.
It kept going and going and going.
The whole black man rant thing had me rolling.
Probably the best ep this season.

Also loved it.
"Hello Mr. Schwimmer, this is Larry David. And I just wanted to say... YOU!@#)(!@*#)!@(*#)!@(#!*@)(#*!@#!()*..."
GREAT stuff. Just the LOOK on his face when the nurse was hooking up the heart monitor, and the look on his face when he locked up his car/saw the black guy at the same time...

I thought this was a great episode. I hadn't even watched the last two weeks because I hadn't really liked the show all season. I think it's probably because Larry didn't actually do anything wrong in this one. I think I prefer it when he's the victim of a misunderstanding rather than just saying something careless and being a jackass, or even not doing something like singing Happy Birthday and a whole bunch of people completely overreacting to it.
The fake heart attacks were great. That's a true Costanza moment

This episode was ok, but I still think the show pales in comparison to previous seasons.
Case in point: I thought the dialogue was too heavy-handed when Larry was talking to the surrogate. It was too blatantly obvious, the way he kept talking about "giving up your baby" in reference to a script.
I think in an earlier season, he would have just made a caaual reference/remark and then he would have shocked later to find out that the surrogate had changed her mind based on this one seemingly innocent remark he made. His dialogue seemed like he was TRYING to get her to change her mind.
I did laugh at the racial stuff though.

I still enjoy the shows as a whole. Gotta take the little bit of bad with all the good.
