audio problems

I have an RCA reciever with Dolby Digital only (no DTS....I know, it sucks) and I use an digital optical cable. I've noticed problems with the audio only on a few dvds. Swingers and American Grafitti. When the movie is playing, both the "Dolby Digital" lights and "Pro Logic" lights are light, along with the lights for my front speakers, center channel and rear speakers (basically as if it's a 5.0 mix and not a 5.1 mix). Anyhow.....while watching either of the movies, the audio will shift to one speaker and cut out for a second, and then it's fine again. It does this a few times during the movies. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks!

Not really sure what you mean since Swingers & American Grafitti don't have 5.1 tracks but 2.0 tracks.

I know that they don't have 5.1 mixes. I never said that they did.

Yeah, it is kinda odd that the Dolby Digital and Pro Logic both show up on 2.0 tracks. I just mentioned the 2.0 track since I thought you might not be aware they didn't offer 5.1 tracks.

I'm not familiar with RCA receivers but the Pro Logic light should be on along with the Digital light instead of Analog. Does your receiver have a Dolby Digital and a separate Digital light? It could just be showing that stereo sound is coming from the speakers.

As far as the cutting out of the sound can you provide a couple scenes when this occurs and I'll check my disc.

It says "Digital" and has the Dolby symbol next to it. As far as picking a scene, it's not possible. If it cuts out at a certain scene, I can rewind the dvd and replay the scene, and it'll work fine. It makes no sense...and I'm starting to get really mad!!!!!
