Almost always. It gives a nice denoument to the movie. Just enough time to reflect on the movies before itīs time to go back into the real world.

At the theatre, yes, to make sure we are getting our money's worth...there have been a few movies recently adding material during or after the credits are finished.

We always fast forward through them at home to see if there if there is any of the above...unless we have time to listen to the music. I love the scores! :D

I always watch the end credits. It is part of the experience of watching the film.

in the theaters, sometimes, the same with on DVD. I'll usually watch the credits on a DVD if I'm curious what actor played _____.

I like to watch the credits. It is a nice time to sort of float back to reality and contemplate the film.

Unfortunately my wife usually grabs the remote as soon as the movie is over and switches back to cable :D

Only if the music is really good or there's an easter egg at the very end.

Always, here. I like to hear the music, it wraps up the movie, there are more and more easter eggs, I like seeing the cast (the major ones, anyway,) etc.

Nearly always. I have a few friends in the industry and I try to catch their names onscreen. Also, films by Zucker, Abrahms and Zucker have hilarious end credits.

One my last date my girlfriend and I sat through the all pf the ROTK credits just watching the great art work listening to the song (her favorite). But honestly, no not really.

Nope. Although I usually fast forward through them to see if there's anything special at the end.

Same here.

I was particularly annoyed at how much I had to FF to get to the end of FOTR and TTT. A completely ridiculous amount of end credits.

I only watch the end credits if I like the music that plays during it. Namely:

Saving Private Ryan
The Patriot(2000)
Forrest Gump
Field of Dreams
The Empire Strikes Back
We Were Soldiers
Glory
The Rock
Star Trek II Wrath of Khan

In the theater, I always watch the credits. By biggest pet peeve are those disrespectful enough to leave. At home, if I have not seen the film before, then I will watch the credits. If seen before, I may or may not.

Hey, that's what I was gonna say! ;)

But seriously, that is exactly my philosophy. The first time I see a movie, be it on DVD or at the theater, I always, always stay for the credits. The entire credits. It's just part of the experience, and I do really resent people who rudely get up right in front of me, see that I am still seated, and make no move to get the heck out of the way (especially when that happens in my living room :p).

Once I have seen the credits all the way through, I may or may not do so again, depending on the movie. For example when watching Indiana Jones, Star Wars, LOTR, BTTF, and other similar classics, I always let 'em roll. I enjoy the music enough to make it worth my while.

Besides, by staying through the credits, I virtually never encounter anything remotely resembling a traffic jam getting out of the theater parking lot. I leave that "experience" for the disrespectful, gotta-get-outta-here-quick crowd. :D

You can still avoid the traffic by leaving 5 minutes before the credits start rolling.

Sometimes. If I liked the movie, then I'll watch the end credits.

matome
02-20-04, 07:57 PM
Never, no need to see people's contractual obligations fulfilled unless:

a) I like the songs playing over the credits, in which case I'm not reading them anyway.

b) there are bloopers playing in little windows, in which case I'm not reading them anyway.

c) I need to know the name of a song that was in the movie, in which case I fast forward to the end to get to them.

I liked the system from the "old" days when there were about one minutes worth of credits total in a movie. Now we have to read "Third assistant to the ASPCA monitor." No thanks.

Very rarely do I watch the credits and only if it seems that it might have a little clip of something after the credits.

Always. The experience isn't complete until I know the Transportation Coordinator, Best Boy Electric, Lamp Operator, and Property Master.

Always...and I'm serious. On theatre and on video, I'll always watch the credits... it is PART OF THE MOVIE as far as I'm concerned... that and one day I hope to be listed somewhere in those credits...so I'd hope some people may at least watch to see my damn name....

I always watch the end credits. I will watch it if the scenes are still on, I will watch it to check the cast, I will watch it if I like the music or songs, I will fast forward the DVD/VHS if the background is black or music is not my type, but most importantly, I want to see if there's a surprise scene at the end of the credits.

One of my recent favorite surprise scenes at the end of the credits is Finding Nemo (little fish eats big fish), have you guys seen it?

Sometimes, to see where the movie was filmed.

I usually watch it if I have time to indulge. For example Apocalypse Now Redux offers the chance to think in a quiet rain dropping scenery. Platoon and Predator both have recollection of characters/actors stared, accompanied by its theme music. Those are fun to watch.

I paid for the movie, I always watch the whole thing.

Some people have said that they never watch credits unless there are credit cookies - how would you know if there was anything special unless you watched it? Or are you one of those idiots who asks someone about the credits as they're coming out of the theatre?

I've actually been accosted by people when I was leaving a theatre that was obviously over: "Was there anything cool at the end of the credits?"

Well, I guess you'll have to buy a ticket and find out for yourself, sport.

No, I'm not one of those idiots who asks people coming out of the theater, since I'm already in the car halfway home. If there aren't bloopers or sing-alongs playing when the credits start rolling, I leave. I could care less about sitting through 5-10 minutes of scrolling words to massage people's egos to see a two second shot of a fish getting eaten or some actor asking me what I'm still doing here. I feel the same way about easter eggs on DVD's. If the producers want to be cute and hide something away, good for them. I'm not wasting my time to try and find them. I'm there to watch a movie not read a novel.

I always watch the credits. I usually want to see the credits for the music, and I went to school with someone who is now a sound editor, so I like to look for his name.

Not in the cinema unless I know for sure there are bloopers or extra footage. As far as DVDs go, whether it's the movie or listening to the commentary, I've actually gotten into the habit of watching the end credits all the way through. The movie almost feels incomplete if I skip them.

I'm the same as many have already said. If there is something specific I'm looking for or like the song I'll watch the credits, otherwise no.

For those who say it's disrespectful to not watch them, I'm wondering why. Do you feel the same about other products you buy? Do you read the insert in a music CD to see who wrote all the lyrics and music too? When you buy a new car do you call the manufacturer to find out who installed the windshield wipers?

If someone is standing in front of you while you are trying to watch them, I'd say that's more rude than disrespectful, but that's just my opinion.

Amen. I only stay if theres something going on on screen or if the music is really good (usually in epic movies). Usually I just leave though.

Sometimes I watch the end credit of a movie. If the music during end credit is good, I will stay to listen. Or if the movie is good or deep, I might stay around to absorb and process what I just saw.

Yes, I do feel that way about other products I purchase, if there is some clearly creative effort that went into making the product. I do read the liner notes on CDs (and before there were such things as CDs, I used to read them on record albums, too). I've been doing that since I was ten years old. I also read the credits on computer and video games I play. I do draw the line, however, at windshield wiper installers, since that is really a very non-creative process (but, on the other hand, I do like to know where and when my car was manufactured, in the event that any defect trends that might be related to that time or place).

If it's the first time watching a movie (theaters, dvd, movie channels), then yes. After several viewings of the movie, I don't care as much unless I really like the score. It aggravates me seeing them interrupted by *extras* or what have you on premium channels. I pay for *unedited*, *uncut*, and *commercial-free* programming DARN IT ( http://makeashorterlink.com/?R1B822E77 ), and the presentation is *NOT* over until the credits (and surprise scenes at the end, if any) are over!!! When they don't honor that, it is fraud in my mind. A small banner at the bottom like the Encore channels do is no big deal when it doesn't interfere with anything. It's when I can't experience the denouement by not being able to hear the score!!! I really don't sit there and try to read them, unless it's a comedy like Hot Shots, then I'll watch for something.

Anyway, I can't think of any really good examples where I liked to listen to the music score at the beginning of the end credits right now, but probably movies like Child's Play 3 or the first Mortal Kombat movie. I don't know...it's just a better experience than on a basic cable channel where you don't get that experience.

If they aren't showing me something besides the credits and some song, those credits are turned right off. I can't imagine watching them.

I don't even bother watching the movie- I only buy DVDs for the menus. If I buy a DVD that starts the movie right away with no menu, I throw it out!
