I was in my local Wal-Mart on Tuesday and saw about ten copies of "Johnny Legend Presents: the Complete Weird Cartoons" on DVD and made a mental note of it. Sometime between then and today I decided to go ahead and pick it up, but I was surprised when I was unable to find it on the shelf this afternoon. I asked the clerk and he said that they can't sell it anymore because they had complaints about some objectionable content. I'm guessing it's because it contains a "Little Black Sambo" cartoon.
Oddly enough, the DVD that replaced it on the shelf was Wonderland.

I just rented that and it didn't do much for me. Maybe you're lucky you can't buy it from them. :p

It got a low score in the review section here. Only for those who really want obscure stuff....

Sad really, it's only a cartoon!

Speaking of "Weird Cartoons", I still can't believe that my Wal-Mart had a vhs copy of Fantastic Planet.

So Buford T do you remember anything "objectionable" other than the Sambo toon?

I'm afraid I already ordered it from bestbuy.com, but I really just want it for the drive-in intermission cartoons.

After this and the whole Ed Wood thing I must say I'm growing weary of putting out so much effort just for the privilege of spending my money. :)

Funny, I bought a copy of Fantastic Planet at my Wal-Mart too a couple of years ago. I was also surprised (and delighted) to see it there.

A couple Betty Boop's and maybe a few others had some sexual suggestions that kids wouldn't get and I'm not sure I did.
