Not only is it not safe for those of us that surf at work, but it's pretty Top Bunk.

Yo, yo, yo my system KICKS ASS!!!1

When it comes to descibing excellent quality equipment is this the image we try to foster here at DVDTalk?

I didn't realize the word "ass" was considered offensive anymore.

Ass isn't offensive, but if I walk away from my computer and there is a great big banner that says KICK ASS across the screen it's pretty stupid.

And more importantly what kind of honky, Top Bunk, Delux_247 sales pitch is that? Yeah, my system KICKS ASS and totally ROCKZZZZ!!1

Stupid ad

-screwy- Nice personal attack.

Never the less, I don't think I'm suggesting anything too out of the ordinary. What's so kook-koo about it?

As a longtime subscriber to Boot/Maximum PC magazine, there's nothing wack about KICK ASS. But posting that something is a personal attack instead of just reporting it is some Delux_247 shit, yo.

You're asking for an ad to be removed because you think it's low-brow but inoffensive. I'm obviously not in charge of deciding which ads stay up and which ones go, but a user finding an ad uncompelling doesn't really seem to warrant removing a sponor's banner outright. If you don't like it, don't click on it. If you don't want it displayed at work when you walk away, scroll down or change windows.

low-brow or not offensive or not, my chief complaint is that it's not work safe.

In the past when people have complained of things not being work safe, they've been treated fairly.

Whatever, if you don't care, so be it, just don't ask me to care when you've got a problem.

You seem to be taking this awfully personally. ;) I'm not berating you or being mean. I just disagree that it's not safe for work, or at least, particularly less SFW than many of the other banners on the site. If they can say "ass" on the radio, on television commercials (probably rare, but I can think of at least one spot off the top of my head), and network television, I don't think it's too extreme to have on a website. It's not even being used in a sexual context.

Yet we aren't allowed to have the word ass in a thread title.

We do a lot to make the site 'work safe' but I'm struck by the absurdity of the request to remove a banner that says 'Kick Ass' under the guise that it somehow could get someone in trouble at work.

Sometimes it feels like some people are just looking for something to complain about.

Other posters who have compained about non-work friendly images have compained about covers with gigantic cocks spewing semen on them, to them I've got sympathy, but for a banner that says Kick Ass, I'm sorry but I just don't get it.

Than let us post "ASS" in thread titles.

Wow, we can.

Never mind.

Keep on rolling with you honky banner ad

I hate to agree with Pants (what does that make me, Zipper?) but I have to speak up for the poor guy and say I too have disliked seeing this ad come up when I'm surfing at work. It definitely is eye-catching to all the wrong people at work.

Man. Times have changed so fast.

I wonder what we'll get away with 10 years from now.
