Anyone know when will The Looney Tunes Golden Collection volume 2 be coming out?

Volume 1 was awesome, I have NEVER seen these great shorts looking so good! I can't wait til volume 2 comes out. Any word on a release date? Thanks.

I imagine these take an awful long time to clean-up and prepare. From what I've read, it sounds like a definite on volume 2. But I'll be surprised it it comes out this year. I'm counting on 2005. But that's just speculation.

They will probably be released like the Simpsons. 1 per yr. But 2005 wouldn't surprise me.

Agreed. Unless they had already begun the work on cleaning them up in anticipation of a sequel, then I would think it is unliklely Vol. 2 will be released this year. I would guess that if they start the cleanup process this year they will keep it going in order for new versions to be released each year around the holiday shopping season.

Yes....i'm not holding my breath for seeing a second volume of the Golden Collection by the end of the year.

I suppose we may very well get the next best thing this year though....fully remastered versions of Tex Avery classics.

The Dr. Seuss cartoon "Horton Hatches an Egg" is the only cartoon that has been revealed to be on wave 2. There will be 60 cartoons on wave 2.

Isn't one froggy evening one of the bonus supplements on the Chuck Jones biography DVD. There are a few cartoons on it.

Nope, that DVD contains "Duck Dodgers in the 24 1/2 Century" & "Feed the Kitty" as bonus supplements, but not "One Froggy Evening". I did find out that they actually made a sequel to "One Froggy Evening" titled "Another Froggy Evening", which I would also love to see, but also wasn't included in the Chuck Jones documentary.

WB has said that they'll release a new volume annually in the format of the Golden Collection.

It's unknown yet whether or not they'll continue with the Golden Collection titling or make a new volume-based name for the series.

Restoration work continues, as they're cleaning up their entire library and making high-def masters for HD-TV.

I think HD-TV masters for the classic Looney Tunes will look pretty bad for sure. If you notice the grain, and dirt that is on screen in alot of these shorts, you can tell all the imperfections that show up on DVD, even when these shorts are remastered. Since most of these classic are over 50 yrs old, can you imagine just how bad the prints will look when put in the HDTV format? Some things are better left alone, these cartoons are one of them. I think if we look to the HDTV format, we need to concentrate on recent movies and TV shows, but putting these old classics in that format will be like blowing up a picture from the 1800s, the quality can only look worse in HDTV, however on regular DVD, I think it looks just right, speckles and all.

Are the Golden Collection cartoons in their proper aspect ratio? They're the result of the new remastering.

There shouldn't be a problem with HDTV, I just think the older the film, the more the flaws will show up on HDTV. HDTV looks awesome with new pictures shot on HDTV video, but I've seen some older movies transferred to HDTV that show every tiny flaw the film ever had. It's obviously a new format that's meant more for newer movies, and video shot originally in the HDTV format. If you remember, when DVD first came out, you may have noticed alot more of the flaws in old movies that weren't noticeable on the VHS version of the same movie...Now imagine all the flaws you'll notice on a format as sharp as HDTV.
