I am still in denial about this and other things - anyone catch the new Buffy this week?

I think this is going to be hilarious. Takes me back to the good old days of Greg the Bunny.

I was excited for this ep, I really was, but it just didn't work for me (in terms of the puppet stuff). It wasn't as funny as I thought it would be. They went through a lot of work to work in the puppet business and didn't really exploit it for all it was worth IMHO. The B, C, and D storylines were more interesting than the puppet gimmick. Countdown to goodbye begins.

I will keep an open mind and most likely laugh, but when you compare it to season three and four in terms of tone, it seems to have fallen a long way.

That said, I wonder if we can look forward to David Boreanaz making some appearances on Crank Yankers?

Yeah, but if you think about tone, that depends on situations, the world seemed to be doomed in season four, so was serious, I mean Angel has had lighter tones as well, and this episode would be the ultimate exception, we've had totally serious episodes, but we've never had a full out light one, it's different, but I don't expect that to be next week's episode, at any moment, someone's head could be choped off, thats Joss Wheadon's thing, flip the whole thing, next week or week after, likely be flipped into a serious tone again.
This season doesn't have the story arcs, so it can go anywhere and explore a lighter tone, then go back to serious in a flash.

Has anyone considered:
The fact that Spike now has a soul, the events foretold in "To Shanshu in L.A." could have a whole new meaning.

I mean Joss could be one to twist that, wouldn't it be interesting if Spike became Human first, Spike dislikes it, but Angel wants it, but can't, it would just flip the whole thing, which is Joss's style, wouldnt put it past him. Or if they both have to fight over it, I don't know, but it's confusing.

Looks good. I'm just wondering how an episode like this was brought up. "Hmm, let's bring puppets onto the show. And let's turn Angel into a puppet".

That's Joss Wheadon, as soon as you think you have the show figured out, surprise surprise.

Kinda like "Hey, let's make this episode of Buffy a musical!" Except it fit in with the storyline of the season, this seems more standalone.

Interesting that they brought werewolf girl back into the mix.

P.S. WTF is up with Fred's mini-skirt's? Girl's don't dress like that around offices.

That whole scene with the puppet Angel in the middle of this episode is cracking me up.

I am now convinced that WB's cancellation of Angel is a ploy to keep me watching for the rest of the season, since, based on this episode and last week's, I probably wouldn't otherwise.

So far, pretty amusing episode. Muppet Angel rules.

Nina is hot! She reminds me of a young Kelly Preston.

Ironic that they should mention the last few episodes of Happy Days, seeing as how it coined the phrase for what many might think this show is doing tonight.

Spoiler:
Jumping the shark for those of you unfamiliar.

Loved the shot of Angel-puppet with the sword behind his head has he leads Gunn, Fred and Wes towards the puppets.

I wonder if they'll do something at the end where they say "This episode of Angel was brought to you by the letter W"

Eh... not bad. While only advancing one event (Fred and Wes getting together -
Spoiler:
if I've read the next few episodes spoilers correctly, might explain why Whedon is getting them together now
, this episode was good for a few laughs.

Oh, and if you missed the preview for next week, Whedon is directing (and wrote the episode too).

Holy breasts Batman! Nina really had her hands full.

I don't think this was a horrible episode, if anything I don't think it reached the potential it could have. If it weren't for the puppet gimmick the main story was severely lacking. However, the side stories really made up for it. If I didn't know better I would have thought they knew the end was coming because they really picked up the pace on several fronts.

Vamp Angel Puppet was hilarious as well.

Angel finally makes a move on Wolf-Girl. And Fred makes her move on Wes. Gunn makes a deal to retain his brainy abilities, but at what cost? Knox might be a problem down the road.

If there was a wolf-girl nipple, it was super-quick. I was more impressed by her "cup runneth over" condition.
