DVD stores in New York City

I am going to New York City in 2 weeks. Can anyone recommend some DVD stores with great bargains/low prices and a big selection? Thanks!

J&R in lower Manhattan, on Park Row, offers decent prices and a wide selection. A used section has recently been added.
Also cds and equipment.

and on the east side of Broadway, about a block or two south of J & R (between Fulton St. and John St.), the DVD "street guys" are usually there selling for $15 each.

KIM'S!!

You have to go to Kim's Video on St. Mark's Place (8th St. ) in the East Village between 2nd and 3rd. Ave. It has a large selection of foriegn, all-reigon and hard to find stuff as well as being one of the only places that sell Region Free DVD players and cater to that market.

The store personal are famously surly and pretentious, but that's part of the charm. They get new releases earlier than other stores, their prices are comparable to cheap as they have used stuff too. If you're a cinephile, you gotta go!

DVD's are categorized by country and within those categoreis by director or genre!

Great music store too. there are two other locals, one in the same neighborhood further East on Ave A and 5th St. and one way uptown near Columbia University.

J&R is ok, as are the bigger chains like Virgin Records at Union Sq. (14th St. and B'way) and Times Sq (B'way & 46th).

Have fun!

And also at W. 14th+6th (? I think ?)

Not as good as they were back in the late 1990s (when you could get some amazing deals on rare VHS/LD, and an occasional DVD). But definitely still worth a peek.

Outlet is cool , as is DVD (something) -forgot the name- on 48th and 8th for early releases, sometimes up to a few weeks early.

Was in NYC last weekend. J and R has a $10 off $100 coupon good until December 31, 2004 that is distributed through tourist information outlets. I found them at the Ground Transport Information Center at LaGuardia as well as at the Downtown Alliance Information booth in CIty Hall Park, just a few blocks from the store itself. It's the same size as the broadway show and toruist information flyers that are in hotel lobbies and other tourist areas. Check 'em out if you are interested.
