Question about Gamecube gameboy player.

Is this thing any good? Hows the picture, is it pixelated on the TV? I am thinking about getting one.

Have it. Love it. Get it. Highly recommended.

I've had it since the launch. The picture is as great as the SNES, and I play it more than I do the GBA... I let my wife and kid control that little machine.

i think it looks pretty good for what it is. i like it quite a bit.

it took me a while to figure out that there is actually a sliding lever on the side that pops the game out of the slot...

Some games have a specific color setting just for the Gameboy Player. I use my SP more but I like having the option of playing GBA games on my widescreen with the Wavebird.

I got one of these about a month ago... best peripheral ever. I haven't touched my GBA since I got the player. If you use your GBA primarily at home, then this thing's for you. The graphics aren't pixellated at all and the GameCube's analog control is surprisingly well-suited for GBA games (especially isometric games that are difficult to control with a 4-directional pad).

Picked one up last week for $45 at walmart
my regular GC games and GBA are now being neglected. As I can't quit playing it!
The games look terrific on a bigger screen and using the GC controller for GBA games feels really right.
Buy One.

I just moved Golden Sun from the GBA to it. OH MY GOD - I don't think I'm going back to play on my GBA. The graphics are too good to waste on the tiny screen IMO. Any using my Wavebird makes it an easy choice. The player is key!

D'oh! Thanks for the tip. I've had one of these since launch, and had no idea. In fact, I was going to post the following in this thread:

My only gripe is that it's a little hard to pry the cartidge out of the slot.

I have a question about this, although I'm sure I know the answer...

When you play a game like say mario kart advance on the thing, you can only play single player right. Just wishful thinking that you could play 2 based upon the number of gamecube controllers plugged in.

It's worth every penny.

It actually makes the games kind of easier (which to me, is a good thing) since you can see everything better, which is essential to the precise type of gameplay required in most platform games.

I bought one and used it exactly once.
Kinda defeats the purpose of a portable.

I got one a while back, because of the massive amounts of RPGs available for GBA. I didn't own a GBA at the time, and so this was the only way I could enjoy these games. I think it's one of the best peripherals ever made. I have since gotten a GBA since my wife "needed" to get to the island on Animal Crossing, and the only time I ever touch the GBA is when she's tying up the TV.

Same. (i've never really been into the whole Gameboy thing anyway.)

Although, if the rumors are true about a Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past sequel on GBA....

Can one of you people who have one, answer my question pretty please.. I was just wondering, if a game such as mario kart, or say tetris is multi player on the player, or is everything single player. I assume it's the second, but a guy can wish.

The GBA Player turns your Gamecube into a GBA, and it acts just like a GBA, so no, you can't. However, there is a link port in front of the GBA Player so it is possible to connect another GBA.

Can someone describe how the controls work with the wavebird. Since essentially the gameboy is a 4 button controller, can you configure the cube controller to work with any buttons?

Yes - it has a wealth of options from display types, to control configurations.
