Sucked for the PC, so unless they totally changed it for the XBox, I would say rent first.

I picked it up today along with Champions of Norrath, but haven't played it yet. I didn't really have any interest in it until I read about the multiplayer mode. I'll post my thoughts after I've played it for a couple of hours.

The PC version was an average shooter at best. I doubt the XBOX version is any different.

I thought the PC version was above average, but certainly not the best. Didn't know it was out for xbox.

I played it today at work. It sucked big time. No offline multiplayer except co-op. To top that off, it's the slowest moving (running) shooter I've ever played.

Yeah the graphics were real nice, not too repetitive.
I beat it also. I think it's a pretty solid game for the PC anyways.

I rented this game last night and it was alot better than I thought... especially after reading the comments on this thread. The graphics were really nice and a minor adjustment on the control settings had me aiming a little faster. The movement is a bit slow, but that doesn't hinder it from a one player perspective. Think Halo, just a little faster.

I haven't tried multiplayer yet, but the XMP portion of the PC counterpart is excellent.

If the XBox Live portion is done right I would say that this is a good purchase.

$40 is too high for this game. Wait until it hits the $20 price point or less. It is a "fair" game at best.

$29 at Fry's this weekend.

True-to-form PC to Xbox port. Runs very well, looks pretty decent, and is entertaining - though isn't up to current FPS standards in terms of, well, anything.

I'd recommend the game but not for $40.

Live! Definitely extends its life out a bit.

Note: Also runs WAY better than Unreal Championship.

Ok, I was just curious....it was $40 this week and it came WITH the Halo 2 pack at Best Buy (which is a 3rd party? Controller, Non-playable Halo 2 demo and $200 in coupons for XBOX)

Anyone pick up that Halo 2 pack.....is the controller even worth it?

Repeat my standard tip here.

I just got this. MOST VISUALLY ORNATE GAME EVER.

My god, it's absolutely unbelievable the amount of graphical detail & variety there is in this game. There's just a feeling of immense production value. They have new & wicked art for simple hallways that you only see once in the game. The freaking HINGES on the hatchway of some doors are ridiculous in the amount of detail they have. The whole thing just screams intense attention to graphical detail.

I play a lot of FPS games and certainly beautiful graphics are quite commonplace in the genre, but I've seen very very few that can match the stuff here. It's just crazy. Some games have a lot of detail, but very confined areas while others go for majestic scope but less detail. This has both.

If this was a film, it'd be a throwback to the super detailed production design in films like David Lynch's Dune.

Oh yeah, gameplay-wise, it starts off slow for the first few levels, but it picks up after about 15 minutes. Lots of scripted events. Not sure how much I like the gameplay when you're alone. The bad guys move too fast compared to you and your guns seem weak at first, but I suppose that heightens the tension. Surprsingly, there is some charming character stuff if you slow down for it.

At the local Gameland here in Torrance the clerk said he was getting many returns from unhappy players.....

Bringing this thread back to ask : anyone else have this game? Should I spring for it at $15 or is it not even worth that much? Anyone playing XMP on Live?

Just got it yesterday at Best Buy for $15 and I actually like it. Graphics are ok and the gameplay is not terrible. I wouldn't have bought it if it didn't hit that $20 price point but I'm glad I did. I would have felt ripped off if I paid $50 for it. I must be getting spoiled these days because I now refuse to buy any game for $50 and I find myself not jumping on a game until it reaches $20. I've just seen too many used game places coming up with new games for really cheap. (Blockbuster for example with Grand Theft Auto & Vice City for $11 each after buy 2 get one free deal)
