I might have it on as background noise..but I doubt I'll pay much attention to it.

Yeah, I am watching it. I have a serious football jones right now.

I predict that the NFC will beat the AFC by a field goal.

AFC up 14-0 with 1 total play on offense

NCMojo

AFC 14, NFC 0, 4 minutes in.

Did I say the NFC by a field goal? What I meant to say was... -ohbfrank-

38-27... the NFC is coming back.

Its a shame the AFC doesn't have the best QB in the NFL.

 Tom Brady

By the way, how did Bubba Franks get in this game?

30 recpetions, 241 yards, and 4 TDs for the season

I know the NFC TEs suck, but those numbers are just horrible. Could they find no one better?

45-40, AFC on top still, but Bulger just threw his 4th TD pass.

Pro Bowl is always an entertaining game.

And just like that, Dre Bly interception, NFC up 48 to 45 after the two point conversion.

Or, to put it another way -- NFC by a field goal.

Manning intercepted again!

Now where have I seen this before??

-eek-

(of course there is still 4:50 to go; time for about 25 more points)

another INT, and another TD for the NFC  55-45 now!

NCMojo

TD for the AFC with 1:54 remaining -- back to a 3 point NFC lead, 55 to 52.

55-52 NFC ahead with 1:52 to go.....AFC about to try and on-side kick....this is pretty damned entertaining actually.....

The Cow

Bonehead play by Manning... -rolleyes-

Taking a sack with under 30 seconds, no timeouts, in decent field goal range...

And it costs them the game.

So is one allowed to rush this kicker in the game or not? Crazy game though

NCMojo

No, you cannot rush the kicker in the Pro Bowl.

I have been surprising accurate in my sports picks this year, up to and including the Panthers playoff run.

but is this a rule, or just an understanding?
because on the 52 yard attempt by vanderblahblahblah, the corner came rushing in full speed from the left side.. and with no blocking, he had a chance.. he didnt get to the ball, but I think he surprised vander.... enough to make him pull the kick a bit short

This explosion of offense is what happens when the defense has to run basic packages, and doesn't try to kill the QB on every snap.

Great to see a WVU alum set a Pro Bowl Record and win MVP. :D

So why does Bulger still have to compete with Warner for the starting QB gig next year?

Josh H
02-09-04, 01:07 PM
Because Martz is an idiot.

I really thing the job is his, he just wants to keep Warner as a backup and is trying to appease him by telling him he has a chance to start.

Yeah, Bulger is a great quarterback when there's no one in his face. -rolleyes-

He makes some bad decisions under pressure, but cut him some slack. He'll improve. If I'm thinking correctly, he's only had 21 regular season starts and two in the playoffs.

That's not even a season and a half of experience.

And Warner is a great QB who just got jumpy behind Mad Martz's crazy anti-protection schemes.

The St. Louis offense was designed around Warner. It worked for Bulger because it was dummied down; when they started to ramp it up, they struggled. If Martz can swallow his pride and provide the QB with some protection, then Warner can be a great quarterback again. If he can't, here's hoping that he trades Warner to a team that can.

As Bulger gets more experience, it won't have to be dummied down. He has an incredibly quick release and thus is well suited to Martz's scheme.

I think Warner's big problem is his injuries. I'm not convinced that his had has ever, or will ever, heal totally. Not to mention his concussions which no one ever recovers totally from.
