I was riding the bus today and this girl next to me was talking on the phone a lot of LOTR. she seemed pretty knowledgeable, she'd read the hobbit, and obviously seen all the films (even a LOTR desktop on her laptop), and was a fan, but HOW could she not pronounce some of the names correctly? and they were easy names:
she pronounced Gollum as Goal-um, and aragorn as aragon, and Eowyn as Arawen.
i might expect it from a non-fan, but she was clearly a fan. so annoying.
ok, rant over.

Oh God the heathen!!! But but...did she say...Aruman instead of Saruman? That would be the biggest sin, especially if she then made half an animated lotr movie and it sucked.

Well you guy have not been to Japan yet.Trolls became Toll and Balrog became Malrog. It's a waste of time explaning to them the names. The only names they seems to pronounce is Saruman,Frodo and Sam,Gimli and Legolas.
