I"m looking for stuff that may have fallen between the cracks since Sex, Lies and Videotape launched the indie boom that was biggest in the 90's. There was a derth of these talky films, and I sure didn't catch them all, but I'd love to hear about any worth revisiting. I was checking out "Kicking and Screaming" tonight on the recommendation of a friend, and it's not Shakespeare, but it's an interesting enough of a film and I was suprised I never heard about it before.

Another recent watch for me was L.I.E., which deals with some tough subject matter, but I think didn't get it's due during it's release and was a very solid film.

And one of longer term indie sleepers(to some) has been Hal Hartley's Henry Fool. Hartley's definately an acquired taste, but this is most mainstream film(and it's not very mainstream at all, just by comparision).

Give me some more stuff to watch! What have I been missing in the last decade?

Two indies that i really like that i think went mostly unnoticed were: Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys and Igby Goes Down. Very good movies.

That's the one that immediately came to mind when I saw this topic. Upon first viewing (Sometime around '95) I just thought it was some Tarantino/Wild at Heart ripoff. But saw it again a few months ago and loved it.

I'd also like to throw in some Alison Anders films in the mix. Especially Mi Vida Loca. Where's the dvd??

 on Mi Vida Loca. Great film, plus I htink it was Jason Lee's first film appearance (not counting skate vids and music vids).

Every single one of Hal Hartley's movies.

Kicking and Screaming
Waking the Dead (well actually any Keith Gordon movie)
