From the recent Fox-HTF Chat:

Question: Are there any plans to release "Sunrise" as a normal release?

Peter Staddon (Fox): No plans to release Sunrise as a stand alone at this point, but we might do something with it and Cavalcade* together later in the year as part of the studio classics.
Doesn't look likely for the forseeable future.

* Staddon appears to be referring to the 1933 film Cavalcade, directed by Frank Lloyd (based on a Noel Coward play).

I wish they would stop bundling it with every polypak at Costco. There are several I'm interested in but don't want to get another copy of Sunrise. Maybe I'll buy the set and trade or give away the second copy of Sunrise.

Sounds like some marketing genius. Maybe in Hell the marketeer who came up with that idea will be roasted over the flames by Marnau!

Hopefully my copy of Sunrise from the Fox B3G1 Sunrise free offer would arrive soon...

They are going for $20+ on eBay, if you are so inclined as to sell any extra copies.

I'd really like to know why Fox wishes to continue keeping Sunrise in the obscure by refusing to release it as a normal title. I'm not a big fan of the Oscars, but this film won THREE Oscars (Best Artistic Production, Best Actress, and Best Cinematography) and is on a ton of top 10 lists for best film (Sight & Sound, Silentera.com, etc).

This is especially puzzling when they're now licensing to Criterion.

Fox produces outstanding quality DVD's and should be praised for that, though.

Inside the Studio Classics: The Best Picture Collection, right? It's like $47.
