LOTR: ROTK DVD in May (EE in Sept)

"According to Video Business, the first version of the Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King DVD will be released in May, with the extended version expected in September. These release dates are substantially earlier than those for the DVDs of the first two movies, which were timed to run up to the release of the theatrical releases of the following episodes. With no LOTR movie coming out this fall, New Line apparently sees to reason to wait. Also in the works are boxed sets of both the regular versions (May) and the extended versions (Q4)."

can't wait for the EE.

September is better than November, but I was still hoping for sooner. I was hoping they could put it out by August, but then I'd rather have a really nice product than have it quicker.

I just hope they'll give a free set box out to those of us who have already purchased all three TE or EEs.

That would be nice... maybe sell the last EE in an empty box w/ room enough for the other two. Overall though I'm still toying w/ the idea of picking this up

I love the way the first two EE boxes look and I'm sure the third will complement them as well as they have each other. I am not lacking any additional box to house the three EE sets.

/happy with everything.

I was thinking of the exact same thing as I read this. Now we'll see if New Line and Jackson "do it all just for the fans!"

The colors have been consistant across the marketing, Green for FOTR, Red for TTT and thus far Blue for ROTK, so I would expect it to be blue.

Can't wait. Although i dont see a need for a box to hold them all, as they stand up and look great by themselves

IF they do, it better be for the regular EE ($25-30) and not with the deluxe EE ($60)

While I'm very glad the extended edition will be released slightly earlier, I am surprised it won't be making a limited engagement in theatres. Surprised and slightly disappointed. Why would New Line not want to collect a few more millions?

Oh well. See you in September, 2004, Mr. Jackson (et al)...

As long as the quality of the DVD is up to par with the others, great!

Awesome news! The geniuses behind LOTR are doing it properly for the fans, and have left their egos behind. Can't say the same for the other trilogy, eh boys?

Since I get both the TE and the EE, May can't come soon enough. Neither can September.

If it's true, then it is great news. I will keep my excitement in check until I hear an official announcement from New Line though.
