Enterprise 02/04/04

Episode Title: "Stratagem"

Archer finds himself face-to-face with Degra, the designer of the Xindi superweapon, and tries to trick him into revealing its location.
Story By: Terry Matalas
Teleplay By: Mike Sussman
Directed By: Mike Vejar

My local UPN affiliate is delaying Enterprise until Sunday due to a local High School basketball game this evening.

Good thing I have access to other sources.

Or maybe they're just trying to tell me something?

this is a rerun isn't it? Or have they recycled another story?

It sounds like a rerun though they've recycled so many plots its difficult to be certain.

Good point. But, it's episode 314 and "Proving Ground" (with Shran) was 313. So, this shouldn't be a repeat.

I checked a couple of other sites and this is indeed a new episode.

I liked it. It was the smartest thing Archer has done in the series.

since this series is going down anyway, for a goof they should have a "q" like character appear and he should be the guy who played sam in quantum leap.

Wow, I must admit, this series really is taking a turn for the better. Tonight's eipsode was unique and interesting! Maybe the scare of being cancelled whipped them into shape.

Yet another recycled plot device, but it was still enjoyable to watch. At least they did it from the opposite point of view from the TNG episode.

This is the first time I can remember Starfleet pulling off this big of a deception. As you say, normally it's done to them.

Archer actually did two things rather well here: fooling Degra in the shuttle and then fooling him twice with the "trip" to the red giant planet.

Let's see: three weeks to get to the planet. That should carry us through February sweeps. I'm guessing the last shot of the last new episode this month will show the Enterprise entering the system?

I'm watching TNG on DVD now. A lot of the episodes aren't very original ideas either and are based on prior SciFi stories.

Wow. The 2nd good episode in a row and even though it wasn't completely original, it still worked.

Will Enterprise be a show that gets good at the end after so many have given up on it?

If we're to believe the rumor that Berman will get the boot after February sweeps if ratings don't improve, I'd say we're a quarter of the way there:

Star Trek: Enterprise brought in its lowest numbers for a new 2004 episode with last night's "Stratagem."

No dissenting opinions?

I guess I’m gonna have to watch it just to keep the board in balance.

That or Titanic. Hmmm.

i think i really like what t'pol has done with her hair. it's a bit longer now and much more 'full' than earlier episodes. perhaps an attempt to make her look a bit more.....human?

i also like the way the new uniform fits on her. maybe it's just the color, but it really flatters her form. which is nice to begin with.

wonder what kind of shes she wears. sigh.

Loved it. Numbers may suck but this is far better than the best of Voyager or the first few years of DS9.

I'm really enjoying this season, but then I've pretty much enjoyed the whole series. I'm not a huge fan of classic Trek. TNG was okay, I loved Deep Space 9, and I've only seen a few repeats of Voyager.

I didn't even start to watch until this season. These past few episodes have been amongst some of the best the Star Trek universe has produced.

Too bad it's probably too late to save the series.

Mediocre crap. Hardly original, no surprises.

The little trick they played at the end was a bit above the usual Enterprise drek, and the acting actually seems to have improved slightly.

It’ll be interesting to see what kind of Hail Mary they try for sweeps.

I guess for me all these episodes are original since I was never a dedicated trek fan. I'm not in love with it, but I like it.

I liked this episode. Fooling Degra twice was great. Definately a turn for the better in terms of quality this season.
