To those who predicted that no one will tune into the "boring" Pats-Cats bowl, I guess you were wrong... It was the highest rated superbowl in 6 years:

CBS says ratings for Super Bowl up slightly over last year
By Associated Press, 2/2/2004
NEW YORK -- CBS estimates that more than 89 million people watched the New England Patriots' thrilling Super Bowl victory over the Carolina Panthers, a slight increase over last year's game.
The game drew a 44.2 rating and 63 audience share, based on a sample of 55 major markets provided by Nielsen Media Research. That's up from a 43.8 rating in the same measurement last year.
Last year's Tampa Bay-Oakland matchup was seen by 88.6 million people, according to Nielsen.
More precise Nielsen measurements of the entire country were to be available later Monday. Based on previous years' measurements, CBS chief researcher David Poltrack estimated the viewership would be above 89 million.
That would make it the most-watched Super Bowl game since the 1998 Green Bay-Denver contest was seen by 90 million people.
This year's game, with the ending in doubt until the final seconds, was a "dream come true" for CBS, Poltrack said.
A ratings point represents 1,084,000 households, or 1 percent of the nation's estimated 108.4 million TV homes. The share is the percentage of in-use televisions tuned to a given show.
