Can anyone ID this movie?

My wife swears she can remember the following scene from a disaster movie, but can't remember which disaster movie:

Everyone is fleeing on the highway, trying to escape the impending disaster. One couple, a little old grandma and grandpa, have car trouble. They pull over to the side of the road, but all of the other people just ignore them. Suddenly, a big van full of tough looking guys pull over. They start taking all of grandma and grandpa's belongings from their car. Grandma and grandpa are frightened. It's not enough that they're stuck in the middle of a disaster -- now some tough guys are stealing all of their belongings? Then, just when things look their worst, the tough guys say "Come on -- get in our van. We'll get you out of here!"

Does anyone recognize it? The "everyone fleeing on the highway" thing made me think Deep Impact, but she says it's not Deep Impact.

Yeh, I do believe it's Deep Impact.

It sounds like Panic in Year Zero or No Blade of Grass, but I don't remember such a scene in either.

Update: My wife tells me she has watched Deep Impact twice in the last 3 weeks, and it's definitely not Deep Impact. She also says I described the scene wrong -- Grandma and grandpa don't pull over to the side of the road. They break down in the middle of the road. Everyone's honking at them and angry, and then the van full of tough guys starts ramming them. But it turns out the tough guys are ramming them into the shoulder, so they can unload grandma and grandpa's car and offer them a ride.

The mystery is solved, we think. We're pretty sure the scene in question comes from Asteroid, a 1997 TV miniseries. The good news is, Asteroid is available on DVD. The bad news is, the DVD edits the 180 minute miniseries down to 120 minutes, and the scene in question got left on the cutting room floor.
