The Fountain - Aronofsky

... is back.

well at least according to Ellen Bursytn

from aintitcool

--------

Hi Harry,

I am sure you were watching the Golden Globes last night. But perhaps you missed the arrivals show with (the despicable) Joan Rivers. Well, she interviewed Ellen Burstyn and when asked what her next project would be, replied that she would be playing a role in Darren Aronofsky's The Fountain to begin filming this fall. I know that they just sold off all the sets and also that Cate Blanchett will be making a movie called Little Fish in Australia at about that time. But, just in case you missed it, those were the words from Ellen Burstyn.

It probably means you need to upgrade to Quicktime 7.

Looks quite interesting. I'm quite excited to see something new by Aronofsky, especially since he has like a real budget this time.

Looks interesting. Usually weird sci-fi stuff turns me off, but knowing who is behind this keeps me interested.

He apparantly ended up with a much smaller budget than was originally given to the film when Brad Pitt was attached. Regardless, I heard the director thinks the lower budget aided in making a better movie.

I could be wrong on this, but didn't it go from the Pitt high of 100 mil to the Jackman reality of 40 mil?

According to Upcomingmovies.com, it's budget was originally $70 Million back in 2002, but then that fell apart, and when the movie was restarted in 2004 it had a $35-40 Million budget.

Aronofsky fans may be interested in knowing that he'll be directing an upcoming episode of "Lost."

Thought I'd revive a thread on this movie. Filming has wrapped but no official release date yet...

Anyone heard any advance opinion on how it turned out? Apparently it's fairly weird stuff...

I've been waiting to see this movie for what seems like FOREVER - apparently it's done - I'd imagine that it'll see release around September/October. It'll be interesting to see what he does with a decent-sized budget. Anyone know if his episode of Lost has been filmed yet?

cheers,

-the Jesus

I read the graphic novel. It's a love story told in a somewhat interesting way.
