Baldur's Gate : Dark Alliance 2
I can't believe this game is coming out in just 2 days! (1/21/04) This totally flew under my radar. I loved the original one and I hope that the sequel lives up to it.
Heres some screenies:

Definitely picking this one up. The first one was one of the best action RPG's ever made. EGM gave it a bad score but GamePro, GameSpot, and IGN all gave it pretty good scores...around 85% average. It's sad because this might be the last Baldur's Gate: DA game released, with Black Isle being shut down .
This time around it looks like we get a new set of 5 characters to choose from: the human barbarian, the dark elf monk, the moon elf necromancer, the dwarven rogue, and the human cleric. Dark elf monk All will have unique abilities and skills to increase as well as a great assortment of spells. Another great feature of this game is the multi-player . Can't wait.

Still... pretty solid scores all around; the general feel was that it was just a little bit of a dissapointment that it was just more of the same.
I'll still buy it when it's cheap tho!

Just keep in mind that it's still just 2-player co-op, as opposed to other similar games (Champions of Norrath?) coming out soon which support up to 4 players.

I probably spent more hours on the first game than any other xbox game I own, even Halo.
I just started D&D:Heroes the other day. Very similar game, not quite as immersive as BG: DA was for me, but very fun. I've put maybe 12 hours into so far, I think I'm almost done.
I'll pay almost full price for BG: DA2.

My wife and I were at the mall yesterday and she wanted us to see if it was already in at Gamestop. I think she's more anxious than I am to play this game.
With this game and Champions of Norrath we should have plenty of hours of fun.

I loved the first one so I'm looking forward to this. Strange, I thought Black Isle's games were always pretty successful. So what other similar action RPG games are out that let you play co-op all the way through? I know about Fallout: BoS and the old Gauntlet game, but that's about it.

I was getting this until I learned of Champions of Norrath. Online play just makes this a no brainer choice alone, plus CoN is nearly identical to the BG games, making it a lot of fun (from the demo). Either way, I'll pick up Dark Alliance 2 sometime down the road, just not first

This game does look promising, and I did like the first one, but with CON, and FF:CC coming out around the same time I probably won't be picking it up until I see it in the bargain bin.

What is going to be the best for XBL? Or support the most players in a single game?

I have Baldur's Gate for PS2 (just beat it Sunday). It says something about loading a character from another game?
Does anyone know if I can roll my character from DA1 to this new one?
Also, what other games can I buy that I can use the Baldur's Gate character in?

I consider Champions of Norrath to be the true "sequel" to Dark Alliance (Snowblind and an enhanced engine) so I'll probably pass on DA 2 for awhile and pick up Champions instead.

Champions, with it's free online 4-player missions sounds like a better way to spend $50 to me.

If this was online it would be a good pick up but it looks like a bunch of the same crap that was in the last game,it was worth the 20 bucks but for 50 bucks there should be online play, for how long they have been working on it why wouldnt this have online play?it would sell through the roof if it did.

The biggest thing that turns me off of Champions of Norrath is the random dungeons. Dungeons designed by hand are usually more interesting than random dungeons.
Also, is it true that Champions is dual-layered?
I'm surprised that they're still very few dual-layered PS2 games out there.

That makes sense.
Thanks!
