At times, I'll watch a movie and think it would be a perfect double feature with another film that's similar in style. For example, when I saw "Nobody's Fool" (with Paul Newman), overall it reminded me of "Beautiful Girls" for some odd reason. And just last night, I saw "The Yards" for the first time (which I enjoyed a great deal) . And I kept thinking of "Copland" while watching it. Besides sequels (which would be an obvious choice), what movies do you think would make the perfect double feature?

A Director's night would be great:
Godfather and Godfather II - Coppola
Rushmore and Royal Tenenbaums (or Bottle Rocket) - Wes Anderson
Vertigo and Rear Window (or Psycho) - Hitchcock
Alien and Black Hawk Down - Ridley Scott
Spiderman and Evil Dead - Sam Raimi
Mousehunt and Pirates of the Caribbean - Gore Verbinski
Saving Private Ryan and Schindler's List - Spielberg
Goldeneye and The Mask of Zorro - Martin Campbell

Whenever I watch two movies back to back I like having two different tones. Mix a light with a quiet or dark movie. I find it to be better for me not to overlap emotions too much.
But to answer intent of question..
Fly Away Home
Winged Migration
Could also add Never Cry Wolf for a triple feature if it had a decent dvd release.

SPR and Schindlers would be excellent, as they kind of show different sides of the same conflict, but damn depressing nonetheless.

You include PCU, but your waiting on OLD SCHOOL?
I can't stand PCU, there has to be a better example of that genre from the 90's.
As for another good double feature, how about Gandhi and Sexy Beast. The two sides of Ben Kingsley.

I can't stand PCU, there has to be a better example of that genre from the 90's.It's been a while since I've seen Old School, but I remember thinking that it was just another one of the over-the-top, bodily-function-humor movies that have been coming out so frequently in the last 5+ years. I don't think to deserves to go with those other three. I think that they all relied more on comic humor than "gross-out" humor and I respect that more.
Secondly, Old School wasn't really about the college experience . . . it was about a bunch of men who were having mid-life crises and reacting to that by trying to gain their college experience back. While taking place in a college environment, I really have trouble calling it a "college movie"
Finally, and more personally, I also think that I identified more with the characters in PCU because that was the time when I was in college. There are very few characters in that movie who I could not directly compare to people that I knew while at school.
Sorry for the hijack . . . you may have your thread back now . . . ;)
