Check out this HD DVD player!

I was looking around on ebay and found this DVD player. I tried to do a search in google and everything on this player I could not read. Anyone know anything about this little baby?

Nice styling, looks sweet. The only thing is, why would you want one? There are very few discs avalible (none have been released in the US that I know of.)

- S-Video Out
- Dual Microphone input for Karaoke

That is not a HD-DVD player. It's a EVD player, a new format introduced by China to take on DVD and HD-DVD. Here's something regarding the format.

And you will be pissed when you find that none of the HD-DVD's (whenever they come out) will play on this EVD player since they are totally different formats! Also what good is a player (I doubt the legidimacy of the player) if you have nothing to play on it! I don't see the studios supporting a format that will be prevelant in China when China has done just about ziltch in stopping DVD piracy! EVD will sinply be a regional format which never arrives here in the US.

China will be selling these EVD HD disks that will be Copied/Stolen from Movie theaters or from Real DVD disks. Even though it will be from a HD disk, the source will not be HD, so it will still look bad!

Hollywood will never put out their product onto EVD HD.

Considering that a lot of DVD boots are made from old laserdiscs, and even VHS tapes...

You could end up with the sad situation of a HD-DVD boot, made from a DVD, made from a laserdisc..
