Sapphire and Steel Opinions?
I saw this DVD boxset of the late 70's British sci-fi series Sapphire and Steel being offered by Critics Choice Video. I actually do not remember this show at all. The description of the show does sound interesting. The thing that piqued my interest was Joanna Lumley is one of the shows leads and I thought she was the best thing in The New Avengers. Does anyone remember watching the TV show? Any thoughts, opinions or reviews of the show.

Joanna Lumley and David Macallum...i remember it, though fairly vaguely as i was about 9 or 10 around the late 70's.....i can't comment too much on plot details and the general standard other than the fact of being fairly young at the time, the paranormal/supernatural themes presented in the show did appeal to me.

I remember this show when I was a little kid as well. I thought it was great, don't know how I'd view it now. Incidently, does anyone know what happened in the last episode?

Just watching the third assignment now (as I type this). It's certainly dated, but it's still a very good show.
The second assignment is probably one of the creepier things (atmospherically speaking) I've seen for a while.

DVD Talk Legend
I made it through the first 3 assignments on the DVD set before bailing. I really, really wanted to love this show. I had heard great things, liked the cast, loved the concept... it seemed right up my alley.
But, unfortunately, I found the show incredibly boring and monotonous. The shows should have had fewer segments. They spend what seems like hours going from room to room, talkingtalkingtalking, with no plan whatsoever.
Your mileage may vary, but I was disappointed. If you're still going to take the plunge, DeepDiscountDVD has it for a pretty cheap price.
