Jalla! Jalla! R4 release (finally, English subs!)
Did a search and didn't see a mention of this already, but the Swedish film Jalla! Jalla! is finally getting a release with English subtitles (unlike previous Swedish, German, and Italian releases). The release has been (oddly) retitled The Best Man's Wedding. Release date is listed as 18-02-04.
Technical details seem rather sketchy. Unlike the anamorphic widescreen Swedish or German releases, the Aussie release seems to be 1.33:1. The reliability of that info seems questionable, however, so I think there's still hope. No info on the sound, except for Swedish(/Arabic) audio and English subs.
So what is this all about? Think My Big Fat Lebanese Wedding in Sweden. Jalla! Jalla! is a witty, cute little flick about two buddies, one who is struggling with impotence, the other who is juggling his Swedish girlfriend with a Lebanese arranged-marriage fiancé. He loves his girlfriend, but pretends to be going through with his marriage to prevent his fiancé from being sent back to Lebanon. It's not a complex plot, the characters don't have much depth, and some of the action sequences seem silly and forced. The acting is generally solid, however, and the laugh-out-loud scenes make it worthwhile. Sure, you can call it a commercial comedy. But it's better than the majority of the Hollywood comedies I've seen in the past few years.

the info I am ready to bet is incorrect. I would wait and hope for an anamorphic transfer (which again I would assume will be the case). The R4 releases are rather tricky with aspect ratio's....so you could be getting a 16/9 transfer.

I love this movie. It has to be one of my most favorite romantic comedy movie. I saw it when it first came out in Germany, and I couldn't stop laughing at various points in the movie.
I've been meaning to pick up the R2 release, but I just havn't had the money to justify spending that much for it.

If you're in Cleveland later this month both of these films will be playing during the Cleveland Int'l Film Festival(3-19 to 3-28). JallaJalla is returning from a past festival where it was a resounding favorite (I saw it twice).
