Best price for Wavebird controller?
Hey guys,
What's the best price (online or B&M) for a new Gamecube
Wavebird controller? I've got some Best Buy store credit, but they want $35...I know it's lower somewhere else, so maybe I can price match with your help!
Also, does anyone know if they make a black version of the controller, or are they just grey or platinum for now?

From the FAQ in the video game forum:
I think the '04 ones are black and they function the same.
Q: Where do I get these $5 Best Buy video game coupons I keep hearing about?
A: Gamer's Gift Cards are in CD cases w/ a greenish cardboard backing. Most Best Buys have thousands of them. They could be in the video game section, customer service area, front counters, or in the Gift Card only display near the front. You can put as little as one penny on the gift card depending on the cashier. On the back of the cardboard is a $5 coupon good until 12/31/03 on any video game or accessory. It says that the item must be 19.99 or up, but the computer will deduct $5 from any item, even items under $5. To get one, just buy the card and put a small amount of credit on the card ($5 or so). Use the card and the coupon on your next game purchase! Circuit City company policy is to accept all competitor coupons, so these are good there, although you may have to ask for the manager if you get a clueless cashier.

$26 seems like a really good deal. Hmm, I have some Best Buy gift cards burning a hole in my pocket, so I think it's about time I got myself a Wavebird. Does it come with batteries? What kind does it take, and how long do they last on average.

The wavebird is great, and I assume it actually does come with the batteries as the GBA I just picked up for my sone came with the 2 AA's it needed, so it seems Nintendo is pretty good about packing batteries in.

Any price is a good price for a Wavebird.
I picked up my fourth one at Wal-Mart and walked out paying 28.00 and change. I didn't even look at the price on the thing before I checked out.

I can confirm they come packaged with batteries; I just opened one for Christmas and I'm loving it so far. I waited until now to get the platinum one... you know, for the BLING value...
I haven't heard anything about any more colors coming out for the wavebird. I don't get it. They release the consoles in Indigo and Black, but the controller (wavebird or not) is in grey? Then they release the Platinum wavebird, when most people are picking up the Indigo or Black only Zelda packs? Hmmmm

Thanks for the help, guys! I PMed a Platinum Wavebird over at Best Buy this afternoon ($26.69, based on the Target sale price). Anyone else wants the same deal, Target's sale runs through this weekend, I think.

I found a platinum Wavebird at Best Buy, and had someone scan it and it rang up $29.99. It's $31.99 at BestBuy.com, so I was surprised. Anyhow, if you don't feel like price matching to Target, then use a gamer coupon to make it $24.99. Or if you can manage to price match and use the coupon (YMMV of course) you can score one for $21.99
