This season I made a resolution. I resolved never to watch ESPN Sunday Night Football again. I think Paul Maguire is the stupidest piece of excrement I've ever heard on the airwaves. Theismann is only slightly better, but I give him the benefit of the doubt for having Lawrence Taylor hit him so hard that wig of his is permanently attached to his head.
Back to PM...he is King of Obvious. 3rd and 3? PM is the guy who will say, "they need at least 3 yards to get this first down". He is also a liar. "I talked to (insert name here) and he said (insert PM made-up statement here)". He knows nothing about football, looks like the doctor dropped him on his face when he was born and has the most annoying voice on the planet.
I hate this f-ing guy. In fact, if they replaced him with Stuart Scott, it would be an IMPROVEMENT (just think about that for a second). I don't know how he got a job in football, but his wife must be hot (if you get my drift).
I would love to know that others hate this guy as much as I do.

The problem is that the Sunday Night games, more so than MNF, have been very good matchups - forcing me to watch. I can't stand Maguire or Theismann, and in turn, they are causing me to not like Mike Patrick, who I've always liked. I can take bad announcing, but they are almost too much. The thing that really burns my ass is the pompous way Maguire uses their full names: "That was a good point, Joseph" or "he didn't get the play off in time, Michael".
Typical Paul:
"You wanna see a great play?! Just watch the offensive tackle make a huge block right here! You wanna talk about getting after it, I'm telling you!!"

He is the Bill Walton of Football broadcasters. I can't stand him or Theisman, the Tom Tolbert of Football broadcasters.
I really wish they would just start using Basketball guys like Sean Elliott or Marv Albert instead. They probably could do a more intelligent Football broadcast than Maguire and Theisman.

I would go so far as to say that ESPN's sunday night footbal crew is the worst anouncing crew in all of sports.

"I'm a tell you what, look at this folks!" should be recognized as Maguire's signature catchphrase since he says it numerous times during a game. The thing that gets me is that Rudy Martzke (tv critic for USA Today) constantly writes nothing but unabashed praise for how great the Sunday night crew is. Theismann has always been an egomaniacal prick, and Patrick makes relatively routine plays sound like they were the greatest play in the history of the NFL.
As for Suzy Kolber, well I hear Broadway Joe is a big fan! ;)

The universal thing I hate about all announcers is that when a play comes to replay and they look at it and make a determination, and then the officals come up the exact opposite ruling, they will still say it was a good call. What are they, pushing the company line?
For the record, I don't think the Sunday night team is that bad. Are they my favorites? No. But man I seem to get some bad announcing on Fox and CBS.

If a player were to get accidently knocked down, Mike Patrick would have to get it in replay and say, "What a bone-crushing hit."
Every play he gets all hyped up over the hit.
I would say that Cris Collingsworth, Joe Buck, and Troy Aikmen are the dumbest of the dumb announcers. Bunch of fags.

So, if you could only get rid of 1, who would you axe? Theisman or Maguire?
I honestly would get rid of Theisman i think. He's great to have there so the other 2 can rip on, but the crap he says is even worse than Maguire (in my opinion)

Maguire of those two...his "I'll just move closer to Mike" when Joe disagrees with him irks me.

I agree that cris, joe and troy are dumbest of the dumb announcers.

I actually think the ESPN sunday night crew is the best there is right now. Paulie is a good guy, he's on a local channel here in Milwaukee once a week, and it's always a blast listening to him.
On the flip side, John Madden is a parody of himself and the WORST announcer out there today.

I have to agree that they might be the worst crew in all of sports, not just football. they are irritating beyond belief with all of the over-the-top excitement about every little play. And yes, McGuire is a friggin tool - theisman isn't much better.

Wait a minute...people other than the QB can call a timeout?

bigdogkt2003, please don't use derogatory sexuality based references in the forums. Many people find them highly offensive.

I actually like Collinsworth...no matter what he says at least he actually means it.
As far as Theisman (I agree - McGuire is not that good at all) I can't stand this 'I am god' idiot. What do you want from a person that pronounced his name differently when running for the Heisman?

I'd axe Theismann if only a choice of one. Suzy gets 2 thumbs up.
I can't stand CBS's pregame/halftime crew. That's the most annoying bunch. At least they're not calling any action.

Horrible announcers: GUMBLE, Phil Simms, Collinsworthless, Joe Buck, Joe Theismann, Paul Maguire. As a matter of fact, I don't think I like any announcers. Pat Summerall used to be fun, but now Madden and Michaels stink up the joint on Monday nights.
No games deserve to be shown on CBS. Every single on of their announcers suck... their pre-game and post-game crew is HORRIBLE (FOX's is much better)... bland graphics... annoying music whenever they goto break... it just goes on and on. And to think that the Superbowl is on CBS this year. Dear lord.
