XBox on new HDTV questions
OK, so I just got my Hi-Def cables for my Xbox.. I just got a 57"
WideScreen Toshiba HDTV. I hooked up the HiDef pack, used my Monster cables, and changed the setting in teh Xbox to accept 480/720/1080. I put in KOTOR and Unreal Champ.. Neither look good on my TV, looked like standard quality just expanded out to 57"s... Am I doing something wrong to not get the better quality. or is that the best quality you can get out of a Xbox on a RPTV??? Please help

Did it look exactly the same as a regular connection?
I only ask because I don't notice a HUGE difference between my Xbox (hooked up with the Hi-Def pack) and my Gamecube and PS2, both hooked up with standard RCAs on my 50" Toshiba.
It sounds like you've set everything correctly.

Not all games are in HD, so you won't see a drastic improvement on most of them. Neither of the games you tried are 720p or 1080i, so it's not surprising you weren't blown away.

yeah, I just looked and saw that KOTOR isnt 720p (which I thought it was). As I backed away from the TV more than I was, I did see that it was better than I though, I was istting closer as I was setting it up. I guess I need to get a 720p Game and see how good it is.

also just found out that KOTOR isnt WideScreen either, so it was stretched out... While Unreal has a widescreen mode so it looked good... Just darker that I thought it would be... Might leave the Xbox on the HDTV but move the PS2 and GameCube up to my Wega 32" in my bedroom

I just purchased Samsung 46" DLP and will be hooking up all three systems too it.
I've been reading up on using component inputs and it looks like the results will vary from game to game. Since the cables aren't too expensive, I'll pick them up and see how they do. If all else fails, I can switch back to my current s-video cables.

Yeah, I am just going to leave my Xbox on the HDTV, and just moved the PS2 and Cube up to my bedroom to the Wega 32"... Neither of those systems offer HD games (just some 480p games) so it wasnt worth leaving them down on the HDTV is my view. SOCOM 2 looks better on my Wega interlaced than it did on my HDTV in Progressive...

I have my cube hooked to my 46 Sony wide-screen and my xbox in my office on a 27. Cube games run in progressive scan are awesome. My wavebird keeps me back from the tv and my couch reclines. Checkout Metroid Prime in progressive scan-it blows Halo away. Viewtiful Joe is another, and Zelda, and Star Wars Rebel Strike, and Mario Kart, and 1080.
