What the hell is wrong with the quadrilogy

I did a search, and i noticed that alot of people are having skipping problems with the quadrilogy. Well i have 2 DVD players, on the Ps2, the alien directors cut kept skipping, and it eventualy said the disk was unreadable. then, i put it in my dvd player, and it skips ocasionally, but whats really annoying is it will play parts of scenes twice. I checked the discs and they are fine... what the hell is wrong with the quadrilogy

hard to say. many players are having issues with some of the discs...mostly Alien DC. it has problems on 2 of my players...plays fine on the other 2 or 3. the only people who care right now are the ones who cant enjoy it because of these problems. welcome to quality control central...."where we dont give a crap". it might be some time before you hear anything from the the studio...I'm sure they think all is well and our lense just needs cleaning.

Christ, I was just about to start a thread about this! The only reason I bought this set was because of Aliens, and the insane extras packed onto this. Well, both the theatrical and special editions skip at the end, during the last 15 or so minutes!!!!!!

Anyone else having problems with disc three? God damn it. DDD better be good about this, unless all the discs will be like this.... And I really hate online returns, too.....

Well, on all the discs of the movies, it always jumps to random parts, which is really really annoying

As I said in another post, no problems at all with the Quadrilogy and my Pioneer player.

I'm curious as to what the players are everyone is having probs with and if there may be some kind of connection.

Sounds like certain players are having issues with them. NO problems with the Malata N996.

I've had zero problems on either of my Pioneers or any of my computers. Seamless branching problems always seem to haunt older players. And no snobbery intended, but is a PS2 really a good way to be watching these discs? I don't have a PS2, that's why I'm asking.

I've had no problems playing the set on my Supercalifragilstic CX560, my Pomegrante 3576 or my Penandteller 8900. However, I did notice some severe skipping problems on my Juicemaster FX5000 and Cornholio 3000. So, I'm guessing it's a player specific problem and not necessarily the discs themselves.

I have watched disc 3, Aliens DC, on my Panasonic RP-91 without any issues. That is all I have tried so far.

I've only had about 20 seconds of pixellation at Chapter 23 of Aliens Special edition. Otherwise, everything has been great! My player is a Pioneer 525.

no problems on my panasonic (and it can be very picky about what discs it plays problem free) although I would like to gripe about having to super-glue the clear plastic backing that contains the spindlefor 3 of the discs...

Cyberhome 402

I have a CyberHome 402. It's multi-region, which is why I wanted it.

Aliens grinds to halt, freezes, and sometimes skips around with the ending, no matter what the audio track. Sometimes it would help if I ejected the disc, or rewinded a little, but only briefly. It seems like that part of the movie can't be read, like it's too dense for the player. I checked the discs, and they're immaculate. Perfect. Nothing looks wrong with them.

My player didn't cost a fortune, but still, this is rediculous. Plus, it's my only player.... (And, I have the same problems with Fargo.)

Maybe I should check for a bios update or whatever...... hmm....

The bad thing about dvd is that many dvd players can have problems with dvd's that are badly mastered or try things out of the norm(like seamless branching).

I own a number of players for this reason.

Panasonic rp62
toshiba 3900
cyberhome 300
sony ns 500v
an older PS2 with dvd remote to update dvd drivers.

two of my players are multiregion also.

Kind of pathetic huh

Wait a minute, are you too having a problem with your Cyberhome? I never had a problem with T2: Ultimate Edition, so I don't get it. It can't be seamless branching.... plus, the middle of the movie played beautifully, so I don't understand it.

it depends how it is mastered. some companies push the envelope and as a result certain players have problems.

I just picked up the cyberhome so I will pop in one to test it this weekend.

I will try Aliens in it. which version did you try? Directors or theatrical?

Both versions of Aliens, with and without the commentaries. Thanks gcribbs. I appreciate it.
