Galadriel voice over for ROTK?

IMDB states that...
"The film was originally going to end with a voice-over epilogue by Cate Blanchett's character, Galadriel, detailing the fate of the fellowship of the ring after the events of the movie."

and I recall Jackson mentioning this in the commentary track for Fellowship.

Thoughts on why this was scraped because I had been looking for it at the end as a nice bookend for the trilogy.

I'm glad that the very end was close to the way it was in the book.

The general speculation is that the Galadriel VO has been saved for the extended cut.

I'll be disappointed if that's the case, unless it comes before the final scene with Sam and his family.

I agree with Philip. I loved the way they ended it as they did in the book.

i love the extras in the EE's but i don't think they should change a major part of the theatrical release

From an editorial perspective, I think that could work out just fine. Galadriel shows us 'the future' of the members of the Fellowship and then we come back to 'the present' with Sam and his family. It's really nice, like at the end of TTT with Frodo and Sam's discussion, to have a 'once upon a time' feeling within this huge story after all the struggles and battles.

The film ends with the very last line from the book, so it would make sense to add a Galadriel voice-over before that final ending.

However, doesn't Jackson and co. make reference to dropping the idea of the Blanchett voice-over at the end in the commentary track for TTT: EE?

Or maybe in one of the video segments?

True, the movie ends with the final line in the text of the novel, but there's also a huge-assed appendix back there.

It would just be like Lady G reading select lines from the Appendix.

No conflict.
