Weakest Part of Return of the King (SPOILERS)
I thought the whole Denethenor, Faramir subplot was really lacking. In fact, I feel that Falamir (sp?) has been underdeveloped in all of the movies.
I feel like they took some footage out of this subplot - so why even include it? It doesn't make that much sense in the movie.
And I know that some of it will be restored in the EE, but it in the theaterical version (which Jackson has called the "definitive" version) it is pretty lacking and his suicidial charge really seems lacking.

I agree that, at least in the movie, the whole Denethor/Faramir subplot (I didn't know their names either, so had to look it up) was handled pretty poorly. It just wasn't well explained why he acted as he did. My wife, who hadn't read the books, liked the movie as a whole but thought that whole piece of the plot (esp. the burning stuff) made no sense.

Yeah, the Denethor/Faramir subplot is not handled all that well, although the TT:EE does give you more backstory and begins to fill it out.
I guess we'll have to wait for the ROTK:EE before they get their just screentime.

What's also weird is that after introducing the palantir (the crystal ball), they never show Denethor looking into his own palantir, which is part of the cause of his madness (in the book). My guess is that this will be part of the extended edition, along with Grima tossing the palantir out of the tower at Isengard.

Elf guy takes out the elephant thing. Pretty friggin' cool.
Anytime when Gollum gets hit/kicked/thrown around. Sam is the ultimate hero for beating this annoying freak. If the movie 2 hours of people beating Gollum up, I'd rate it 10 stars!!......I guess I can say I hate Gollum.

The whole relationship with Aaragorn and Liv Tyler's character, (sorry I'm not good with names), was the weakest part. For me, it slowed the movie down, and it just felt out of place. I'm not saying it was bad, but compared to the rest of the movie, it wasn't that good.

Also felt Denethor's madness was ridiculous. Faramir was one of, if not my favorite character in the books and he has been criminally put on the back-burner in the films. Too bad.
