Toho's Official Godzilla Website
The official website had a short statment by Shogo Tomiyama, Godzilla's producer, on next year's 50th anniversay film.

Comments from Producer Tomiyama:

"This year's work completely succeeds over from the 1st work. It is entirely appropriate to bring Godzilla's 49 years to a finish by way of this "masterpiece," I think. Therefore, I think we can start the 50th anniversary again with a fresh, new work. For that (Gs 50th) famous novelists and manga artists have been doing story planning. It was squeezed into 1 "book" in November. I think I want to do an all star production with more than 10 characters from generations as a dream movie to satisfy the 3 generations of Godzilla fans continuing through 49 years. [unweildly sentence, I tried]

I also want to "cast" the highest/best settings, and let this go out to the world, beyond Japan. In January there will be more “settings” solidified so I think can not announce the full aspect of the story until February."

COMMENTS: Good news in that it seems that story has been in development. Sounds like were getting a Destroy All Monsters type of film or some kind of monster fest.

I hope they are not planning this to be the final Godzilla film ever.

Yes, the original Japanese cut of the film is coming.

Check out this link for more details:

Will it eventually make its way as a Criterion title? Time will tell...
