Any good "Mario Kart"-like games for PS2?

Best game ever, IMO. Wish I could play something similar on PS2.

I still play the Crash Bandicoot cart racing game from the PS1 on my PS2...but only rarely... the cart games for the PS2 have been so poorly received that I haven't bothered "upgrading". Do a search on www.gamerankings.com and you'll see what I mean; nothing over 67%.

Here's a trite answer for you... buy a Gamecube and Mario Kart: Double Dash...

Yeah I'd like to, but that doesn't go over to well with my beautiful wife.

Like cheapskate, my son and I have really enjoyed Crash Team Racing on PS1, and, there is now a new Crash racing game on PS2 Crash Nitro Kart. It earned a 7.5 on Gamespot, a 7.4 on IGN, but a 67% overall ranking on gamerankings.com . From what I have read, it is more of the orig CTR. Your best bet may be to pick up the original for PS1 for ~15 from best buy, if you like it, go for the new one.
