Should I buy a GameCube or PS2 for kids under 8

I am looking at the gaming systms for christmas, and we are wondering which would be better for us. We currently own a PS1 and 2 Gameboy Advances. My children are ages 6 and 7. Is one game system easier for them than another, and which one has a variety of games available for that age group.

Thanks for your help.
Renee

Gamecube. Cheaper and more "kiddie" games that your kids will love and you can probably enjoy as well (as long as you aren't turned off by cartoony graphics).

I would recommend the GameCube by a narrow margin regardless of the age of the user. It's not a total no-brainer because there are plenty of kid-friendly games on PS2 as well, but the GameCube has a really solid lineup of games.

I'd go gamecube for pricing and pick up a couple of wavebirds (don't get just 1 because they will fight over it) with the difference (no cords for the kids is a good thing). Maybe a GBA Player to go with it if they have many GBA games. Basically if they do not have a preference, go cube because you will have an extra $79 to put into games or controllers, etc.

I'm assuming since they do not have a new gen console now that they are not going to be just burning through game titles quickly. If they were constantly losing interest in games and needing new cheap games, I'd lean more towards the PS2. Also, if you already have a ton of PS1 games, the PS2 would be good.

either is fine. the advantage of the PS2 is that you could sell the PS1 for a few bucks since you can play your PS1 games on it. Plus you have a larger selection of games.

The advantage of the GC is a lower price plus some nice first party games although the selection is smaller than the PS2.

Both will have a bunch of games for kids.

Either would be a good choice.

I have a 9 year old and we share a GameCube very nicely. Plenty of games we both like playing.

Definitetly get the Zelda bundle and Wavebirds.

I am loving my GC there are alot of quality titles availible quite cheaply.
If you already have a GBA as stated above a game boy player would allow your kids to play their cartridges on the television. Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario Sunshine are cheap and are good kids games to start with. Piglets Big Game is out there for about 15 bucks as well.
