In regards to the Megaman and Zelda collections...

So I read that the Megaman Collection is coming out in February. This is great, as it will be nice to have all those old NES games on one handy disc. And since I'm getting a Gamecube for Christmas (wife already bought but won't let me play it until then), I'll be making this a late, late, late Christmas gift to myself.

But in regards to this collection, what do you think the chances are that we'll see a couple of other collections? The Zelda games are already packaged with the cube, but what about a Mario or Castlevania collection? Or are these already out and I just don't know about it? It would be nice to be able to finally ditch the old Nintendo because I have all my favorite games on Gamecube.

Of course, that would mean releasing the original Metroid somehow to Gamecube as wel...

Anyway, any thoughts?

If you have Metroid Prime on the GC, Metroid Fusion on the GBA and a link cable you can unlock the original Metroid to play on your GC.

The other collections would be great. I doubt we'll see a Mario collection though. Nintendo is selling the old Mario games like hotcakes for $30 a pop on the GBA, so putting out a comp disc would just kill their sales.

So in regards to Metroid...once you've unlocked the original Metroid, does it stay unlocked? I don't have a Game Boy, but my friend does. So if he brought it over, could I unlock it on the Metroid Prime game, then always have it on my Metroid Prime save file?

As far as a Mario collection, I'd pay 30 bucks for that collection on Gamecube in a heartbeat.

But would you pay $150? They're selling each game on the GBA for $30 (except the original, which was for the GBC, but also $30).

A Castlevania collection from Konami would be a no-brainer, though, since they're not re-releasing those.

Castlevania I, II, III, IV, Bloodlines, Dracula X, Dracula XX, Symphony of the Night, and, maybe, Castlevania Chronicles.

They would probably leave off the Nintendo 64 titles.

OUCH! I thought he meant it was 30 for the entire collection. Sorry, I didn't love them THAT much.

Also, any idea on my Metroid question?

Once Metroid is unlocked, it gets saved to your GC memory card. You can play it whenever you want at that point. No more need for the GBA.

Cool. Thanks for all the tips, everyone. Looks like my old NES is coming closer and closer to finding its way onto Ebay.

I believe you have to beat both games to unlock Metroid (or maybe just one or the other, it's been a while). So it's not a matter of just hooking the GC and GBA with both games in. You have to have the appropriate completed game saves. But as the other guy said, it does stay unlocked.

Well, that's fine too. I wouldn't mind giving Metroid on the GBA a try out as well.

I have the Sonic Collection... but it gets on my nerves sometimes.

I'm still waiting for the Zelda Collection to show up, and will get the Megaman Collection.

But I'd love to see a Contra Collection and a Final Fantasy Collection.

If you have a PSX or a PS2 pick up the FF Anthology Disks and the FF Origins Disk. I believe the two anthology discs are $19.99 and the Origins is still $29.99.

I doubt we'll see any other FF collections released in the near future.

There's a Sonic collection on the Gamecube? Which games does it feature?

I completely forgot about Final Fantasy. That would be an awesome collection.

And in regards to a Castlevania collection...should we start a petition?

Sonic Mega Collection: Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic Spinball, Dr. Robotniks Mean Bean Machine and 5 bonus unlockable games.

Target B&M has SMC for $15-20 now. I paid 20.98 a couple of weeks ago.

To get Metroid you have to beat Metroid Fusion for GBA, but not Metroid Prime.

Just to forewarn you, from the reviews I read the Sonic Collection is supposedly pretty glitchy with slowdown and what not.

I've got the Sonic disc and haven't experienced any problems with it.

They are rereleasing several PSX Square classics for the greatest hits collection including anthology and origins as well as vagrant story and something else. So if you don't mind the bright green greatests hits label on the side wait to purchase them.

I'm a sucker for these classic sets. I bought all the FF games rereleased on the PSX and the Sonic Collection on the GameCube. Just got the Zelda Collection and I'm definitely getting the Mega Man Collection as well.

It takes some work, but Animal Crossing has a bunch of classic NES games as well.

Combined with the Game Boy player the GameCube really has an incredible assortment of classic games.

It's probably worth noting that Sonic Adventure DX has all the Game Gear Sonic titles included as unlockable bonuses.

So without starting a new thread, who's got a list of the old anthology titles out there? I'm thinking Midway Arcade Treasueres, Namco Museum and the franchise specific ones (like Zelda and Megaman).

These collections kind of annoy me. On one hand i want people to be able to play these games but i have worked hard over the years to aquire a huge cartridge game collection and it makes the price go way down when they rerelease the expensive games
