Need suggestions for GBA game for 8-year-old...
Okay, so my son is going on a trip with his grandparents for a few days, and there will be an 8-hour ride in the car each way. I need a suggestion for a new GBA to get him, so as he doesn't drive them nuts.
Obviously, it cannot be overly complex, though he can read and all that good stuff. I also don't want it to be too simple. Any of the Pokemon or Yugioh games any good? He's asked about those before. How about a platformer? He has a couple of the Mario Advance games already (first two I think), so something different from that. Would the new Mario and Luigi RPG be too complicated? He's played Zelda and Final Fantasy games and liked those, though I don't think he really knew what he was doing the entire time.
Any good suggestions...or perhaps a couple bargain-bin games that are good?
Thanks in advance,
Bo.

WepaMan...Good to hear. That was a big thing with my son as well. I encouraged him to read by stating he could play the "big boy" games (Final Fantasy, Link, other reading games) when he learned to read.
Marioware and Luigi/Mario both sound good. Probably go with one of those. Also, Pacman is probably available in one of those "classic" packs, so I might pick that up if I can get it cheap.
Keep 'em coming if ya'll have more suggestions.

Fire Emblem is an excellent game for those of you with kids looking for a great strategy/tactics RPG game. Many gamers like Fire Emblem over Final Fantasy Tactics Advance for overall package presentation.

I kind of wish Namco would do a full out Pac-Man collection though. First of all delete Pac-Attack cause it sucks.. then have Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Super Pac-Man, Jr. Pac-Man, Pac n Pal, Pac-Land, Pac-Mania, and Pac-Man Arrangement.
Have a save feature for crying out loud. Nothing sucks more than racking up a sweet score only to see "10000" next time you play. How about doing a little "extra" with the saving like the old Namco Musuems for PS1? That kept track of how many total dots you ate, how many times you ate each ghost, which ghost killed you how many times.. little things, but really cool to look at. And it'd be great to bring back the History section of the old Museums.. there's plenty of stuff they could cram into a cart to make a Pac-Man fan's dream collection..
Still happy with what we got, but could've been more.

Anyway, Mario & Luigi would be an excellent game to get. It has plenty of text and all of the mini-games give you unlimited chances to get timing and reflexes right (which is necessary even for someone my age).
