I really enjoyed this episode as well. Lots of good stuff throughout, although it was very reminiscent of other older Simpsons...

Great episode. My favorite line--

Oh my god - I've seen something I havent seen in 4 or 5 years: a Funny Simpsons! Not "just one laugh out of half an hour", not a "Occasionaly chuckle at one of Homer's pratfalls", but top to bottom funny throughout.

It was so strange. I'l have to tune in next week and see if they can keep it up. . . .

Well I was not too impressed in this episode, but it was prolly because of a long day watching way too much football.

I'm going to have to catch a rerun, as I was watching Survivor. Either that or snag it off Usenet.

a very good episode. reminded me of old time simpsons episodes.

the part where Homer filed down the picture cubes corners for Lenny and was poking him in the eye was great.

I felt the same, but not in a good way...

They've already done the "Flanders is jealous of Homer for being more of a good guy than him" plot and it wasn't changed for the better this time.

The two or three most recent episodes really felt like they were composed from pieces of older episodes.

I've felt the same way, but still enjoyed this one!

Is this the most "live-action" Simpsons has had? Other than the Treehouse episode with the CGI Homer in the real world, I can't think of much else.

Some laughs, but I wasn't too impressed. Just about everything had been done before.

The California Prunes had me laughing hard.

Lisa: "That's offensive to both Christians AND prunes!"

The live-action (or 'clay action) bits looked stupid and out of place. What was the point of that?

I believe they were a reference to the clay action Christmas specials they used to run every holiday season when I was a kid during the mid 1970s. The one I remember clearly was the Rudolph movie and I believe there was also a Frosty the Snowman version.
