Comedy Central's Commies
Anyone else catch this? I figured a Comedy Central awards show with great comedians would kill, but unfortuneatle, Triumph had the only humorous segements on the night (save for a few Sandler, Dangerfield, Shaloub/Gottfried rifs).
It was horribly edited--seeming to add in a laugh track and cut to random audience members for laughs out of place. It was entirely too scripted and staged (and POORLY scripted). They're bits weren't funny (the Indian accepting for Larry David, the guy in the box, Andy on the crapper...). And was it just me, or were the clips from the nominees' shows/movies not even funny? There was no build up for the nominees--just some random actor going up to the podium and and saying "Here are the nominees for..." (except for Shaloub/Gottfried and Dave Foley). Very uninspiring. It didn't seem like there were any spontaneous moments the entire time. It was like a bad sitcom that has only one funny character.
And for receiving comedy awards, most recipients weren't even funny and acted like they didn't want to be there (Chris Rock's taped acceptance, Cheech, etc.). Why is on serious awards shows, everyone wants to be funny, but at a comedy award show, everyone's trying to be serious?
My suggestion for anyone that missed it would be to watch for Triumph and skip the rest (unless you're a Rodney Dangerfield fan....poor guy can barely stand on his own anymore).

Yeah, I didn't regret watching it, but it was kinda pathetic. I was especially disappointed by Bob and David since I always have high expectations for them.
