SNL 12/13 - Elijah Wood

Already past the opening and I've laughed more than the Al Sharpton show.

Hahaha. Giving Elijah the business down there gets his voice back up high...

How'd you already see that..? It's 10:53, here, and they just punched him, down there, to fix his voice.

Did it come on late in St. Louis, or something..?

The Real Audio with Bush was pretty funny. The gorilla part was quite good.

It's a shame that Jeff Richards didn't fall and snap his neck while ice skating..

or

It's a shame that Jeff Richards didn't get his rainbow scarf tangled on the blade of his skate and choke himself until he turned blue and fell through the ice..

Other than that...I missed the first 45 minutes of this show. What I did see, it looked like Elijah did a good job [his Boy George was funny]. Jet wasn't bad. I'm assuming the first song they did was [i]Are You Gonna Be My Girl[/b], right?

Good show. Nothing sidesplitting, but decent material.

Hardball
This was funny. "Lieberman, only five words out of ya, and already I'm bored!"

Monologue
Wood seemed a little uneasy here, but I want to see his new show, "A Hard Hobbit to Break". It looked better than most sitcoms.

Soprano-singing boys
Good bit.

Queer Eye for Santa
Very funny, with Santa feeling uncomfortable. "You look like Kathy Bates!"

TV Funhouse
Okay, but not one of the better ones.

Wake Up Wakefield
I always like this sketch. Rudolph & Dratch are perfect in this.

Weekend Update
It looks like Tina Fey's mini-rants are going to be a weekly thing. The Whitney Houston thing was odd. That Good Burger nitwit has one expression for every character he plays: a simpleton's grin. Send him back to Nicolodeon or Noggin of wherever he came from.

Donatella Versace
Another one of my favorite bits. Elijah Wood as Boy George and Horatio Sanz as Rosie O'Donnell. Sanz was actually very good tonight.

Gore & Dean
This was fine.

Rialto Grand
When Kattan left, I was happy that we didn't have to watch these anymore.

Did I miss any sketches? I may have dozed off. It's weird that I don't know if I did or not.

Next week:
Spoiler:
Jennifer Aniston and Black Eyed Peas

Yeah, not bad. OK.

Chris Kattan floored me when he popped up as Gollum. Nice surprise. Even the old lounge lizard was pretty good.

My favorite is still Donatella. Love the screaming and the remark about Elton John.

I'm not big on political humor so the opening was enough by me.

I haven't watched SNL (the new eps) in years - they just aren't funny to me anymore. With that said, I laughed so hard at this episode I couldn't believe it. The Queer Eye and Donnatella parts were the best - oh, and the soprano boys choir. Since sat I've had "does this eggnog want to hurt me..." stuck in my head. Still makes me laugh.

Oh, also loved the sitcom with Gollum and Frodo - loved how they took bits and pieces from 3-4 eighties opening sequences and redid them.

Oh, also loved the sheldon/jazz times ten bit - the girl was just like I remember girls being in junior high - "you're just like Clay Aiken, except you're in front of me!"

I love Maya Rudolph - she's good at everything and the chick never laughs during a skit unlike the rest of the cast. "Wake Up Wakefield" might be one of the best recurring sketches over the last few years. Donatella was alright, though not as good as it has been in the past.

Tina Fey was actually kind of funny tonight. Liked Jimmy Fallon's Jon Mayer.

The choir-boy skit was pretty damn funny. Will Forte is under-used.

Surprised to see Darrell Hammond used repeatedly for the first time a while. Loved his Hardball skit and the Gore/Dean bit.

Elijah did a good job, especially when he was taking cheap shots at Jai from Queer Eye.

Kattan was okay, but I don't really miss him.

Kenan Thompson does only wear one expression on his face.

Amy Poehler made a good Hillary, but she is really too good looking to play the part.
