SONY RM-3000 remote questions...

i spilled tea on my rmpp411 remote today, and, while it seems to be getting some feeling back w/ time (some buttons are starting to work again), i think i may use this event as an excuse to get the av3000. my question is will the av3000 know how to work my comcast digital cable box and my jvc 7 dvd changer (xvfa902?)? thanks!

Shouldn't be a problem. It's a learning remote. I've had mine for almost a year, and it works great! Should be able to get it online for around $100 which is better than Best Buy which still has it for $200.

I have Comcast digital cable, and my '3000 works great. That said, this thing has more memory than a herd of elephants, so you should be able to customize it to your heart's content.

Buy it! Awesome remote. It will learn anything. Try www.etronics.com. They have it for $102.88.

Or consider an MX-500 for a hard-button option that will really handle everything (custom assignments, labels, and macros). I use mine to doeverything, and it is better for 'task-oriented' setups and ease-of-use by casual users. (F'rinstance, the hard buttons are mapped almost identically to the ones on the stock cable box remote.) The flexibility of having 2 pages of 10 custom-labeled buttons for each device (in addition to a healthy assortment of stock buttons) can't be beat. And it's always 'safe' to simply go to the main page, where any labeled task mode (e.g. cable tv, dvd, vcr, etc.) can be set up for one-touch switching--video input, audio input, audio mode, power-up, etc.

Just a thought. But check out remotecentral.com for much discussion and reviews of many remotes.

As drmoze said, go to www.remotecentral.com for all remote news, reviews and info. After looking there, you should know what you want to buy.

Enjoy I grabbed mine from the Etronics B&M store. You can customize the thing like crazy!

I'm off to look for some x10 light switchs
