Siren: New Survival Horror

Has anyone else checked out:

http://www.playstation.jp/scej/title/siren/

This is the site for a new survival horror game called SIREN, which has recently been released in Japan. According to PSM, the TV commercials for the game were pulled because they were scaring young children. The game looks like a cross between SILENT HILL and FATAL FRAME, but as I don't read Japanese, I'm not sure what the game is about. Still, it looks very cool.

Looks like it's about zombies and ghosts and stuff... or something like that. The cinematic cutscene graphics look fantastic... I wonder what the in-game looks like. I really want this game. I'll ask my friend what it's about exactly... see if he knows any details.

The second movie shows what appear to be in-game graphics.

Ok - checked out the 2nd trailer and it has some in-game footage... looks like a mixture of 1st and 3rd person perspective... that would be cool - more immersive and scary, right? The in-game graphics look good... wish the Xbox would get some good survival horror stuff like this. It looks like there's some elements of stealth and puzzle solving and you get control of a flashlight - the lighting effects are well done and then you apparently get a slew of weapons like a crowbar, pistol, and even a sniper gun. The world looks pretty interactive. I hope they release it here and they better offer a subtitled version rather than just bad english.

Observations:

1. this game looks like one of the scariest/creepiest games to be released so far.

2. The Siren music is frightening

3. those parisites are friggin disgusting... the sight made my skin crawl

4. The game looks incredibably realistic

5. I know I saw a guy getting a blow job

6. I want this game....

The commercial for this game was pulled off the air in Japan after numerous complaints.

You play 10 different characters in this game who have a special ability called "Sight Jacking" in which they can jump into the enemy's mind and see from their perspective (those are some of the parts where it looks like its in 1st person). You can use it to locate and avoid enemies.

Its being released in Europe as Forbidden Siren this March but no US release date. I really hope it comes here, I love survival horror games and this one looks great!

ok I watched a different movie than the ones on Sony's site. They don't show the site jacking in those movie's but its a really cool effect.

You can stream the pulled commercial here. Isn't scary at all, I have a feeling pulling the ad was a marketing gimmick.

yeah I've been following this game for awhile now, the commercial is a little disturbing but not what i was expecting after hearing the news story. I can see how kids were scared of it though.

There's at least 15 reviews out...

77% - good enough for me.

Cool....Any other opinions on it? What do you guys think of it?

And a question for those who played this game.... I'm thinking about buying this game for my friend's birthday. He loves zombie films (mainly George Romero's dead trilogy) and he loves the Resident Evil games.

Based on that knowledge, do you think he'd enjoy this? Thanks.

I dunno, guys... doesn't look so hot. Some moderately creepy people with their eyes rolled upward, or with some things attached to their faces, or pointed teeth... they didn't seem to do much but stumble about in a stupor. So it's basically yet another bullet-rationing game.

I had no idea this already came out, must have happened during the time I was extremely busy with some other stuff.

I heard its ok, except they kept the European voices which are supposedly some of the worst ever.

Being the survival horror freak that I am, I'm still gonna end up renting this one.

Yeah, this game sucked! First of all, the voice overs were hillarious. It was hard to get into the game where your asian characters are talking like the britsh. The sightjack gimmick was ok i guess but got old pretty quick, interesting concept but poor execution. Fatal Frame 1 and 2 is way better than this!
